OT: 10 seasons - 193 episodes

2k3: 7 seasons - 156 episodes

Nick: 5 seasons - 121 episodes

The trend for the animated shows are not good, based on current projections the most Rise can achieve is 4 seasons and barely hitting 100 with only 104 episodes.

Yeah, I was really hoping the Nick show would last 7 seasons, but oh well.

I do think Nick will give every new cartoon a 5-year run though, unless it completely bombs in ratings or something. It was already announced Season 1 will have 26 episodes, so it does seem like they plan the same size run. They could have went with a 13 ep season but did not.

I think, OT is an unique case, given enormous popularity of the show at the time.
If anything it should be compared to equally popular series, not with incarnations of TMNT.

Honestly it's probably more like a Fant4stic scenario. I mean seriously, ending it on 3 seasons with 8 episodes each? That doesn't even add up to a single normal season. It's pretty clear that it only lasted as long as it did because of hopes that it could climb back up, not popularity.

If Fred Wolf had anything else that was at least moderately successful (seriously, look at the output of that company) and if they didn't have a sour relationship with the IP owner, things might have looked different. If the show got canned under those circumstances, it would have probably happened after season 6, if not earlier.

The original reason the TMNT fad ended is because Power Rangers came out in 1993. Power Rangers was billed as the TMNT killer back in the day and it was. Had Power Rangers never been brought over to the U.S., TMNT probably would have remained popular a lot longer.

Of course by the time Pokemon came out in 1998 as well as Dragonball Z...then TMNT would have ended either way. Still TMNT 2k3 came out in 2003 which was still at the height of the anime craze in America.

Blaming a single factor? I don't know, that seems kind of...

Back then kid fads were huge because there were less channels on TV and little to no internet. Pokemon is what also killed Power Ranger's initial popularity. Especially when you realize Pokemon came out in 1998, only 5 years after Power Rangers had been airing. I think people don't actually realize how short kid fads actually are, even if the franchises still go on for decades after their initial popularity.

These days you don't really have huge popular kid franchises anymore, because the rise of the internet, social media, hundreds of channels, etc. means kids all just don't watch one particular show anymore.

I seriously can't think of the last huge popular kid fad, unless you count stuff like Spongebob or Harry Potter. It seems these days anything that's popular is an already established older franchise.

I guess there's also a chance that Rise will only last one season of 26 episodes like The Next Mutation did.
Remember how that promotional sticker with the new logo on it had 'The next mutation' written under it? Perhaps it's a sign.

I also still doubt we will get 26 episodes of 20 minutes. 10 minute episodes seems more likely, I would prefer 20 minutes so I hope I'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure it's going to be a regular 22 minute half hour show, nothings been stated of 11 minute eps.

I really hope so, a lot of cartoons are 10 minutes these days.

I suppose it would depend on what they are doing, if they wanted just one off stories they could shorten them but it even then doesn't leave time to fit much in.

As much as I like many shows with 2 10 minute segments, I think all tmnt shows should have 22 minute episodes. Otherwise, it would be a bit hard on the show continuity wise.

I finally finished the 2K12 series, loved the 3-part crossover finale. Looking forward to this one. I'm glad we won't have to wait long for a new turtles show.

Sadly the show is said not to come out till Fall 2018, so it's still mostly a year away. I hope we do get some previews or character arc or something early next year to tide us over.

The 2k12 series debut in September, so I would guess the new show will be around that month in 2018.

SDCC 2018 would be the place learn about the 2k18 series if Nick has a Animation/TMNT Panel.

If it's a comedy show 10 minute episodes are more than enough.

I'd rather have a 10 minute episode comedy-action show than a super watered down action-comedy show for 22 minutes.

At least the comedy show would be doing something new while the other would only be doing a lesser version of what we already saw the last two shows and without the charm of the original show.

It's still going to be a regular action cartoon.
