Pokemon GO
It released last night and the servers are taking a bigger dump than a game on the PC. If you've downloaded and managed to get in, how many Pokemans have you caught? Moreso, how many times have you walked out into oncoming traffic to catch a Bulbasaur?

This game seems like a ripoff. And yes, it will be hilarious when someone gets run over trying to catch a Charizard in the middle of the street.
Although I wonder if I have a Zubat in my toilet or an Alakazam in my closet... |

As far as I know, it's not available in Norway. But, I'd love to play it mostly for the novelty of finding Pokémon at odd places.

I'm tickled by the fact that they're apparently using a lot of the location data from another game called Ingress.
(A game I might be hopelessly addicted to at the moment...)

That's because its developed by the same company. Nintendo partnered with them because of Ingress' success.

All I've been catching is Pidgeys, Rattatas and Spearows. Did evolve one of my Pidgeys the other day though. Oh and I started out with Squirtle.

The game and servers crashed a lot in the beginning when I started playing it earlier this week. Although it's been much better today. I've mostly caught Rattata's and Pidgey's, but did manage to catch a few gems like two Eevee's, a Nidoqueen, and a Gastly.
I ended up joining Team Mystic. What teams did you all join?

I pretty much spent all weekend playing this. I have 63 different kinds of Pokemon caught (and tons of duplicates, of course). It's super fun, and I see myself going on mini adventures instead of spending time at home bored.
Team Mystic!

I have it, but unfortunately, it doesn't work here since the game system hasn't been fully set up here in Japan yet. I'm curious what the deal is with the game, which is why I decided to download it.
The only Pokemon I do have is the starter. If I use the app, there are no Pokestops or Pokemon anyplace. Just a wide open map. |

Saw a news article that was discussing the popularity.
Apparently Westboro Baptist Church is a gym location and is guarded by a clefairy named Loveislove.

Makes me wonder how many casuals playing this will pick up Pokemon Sun/Moon for 3DS in November. Nintendo seemed to have found a great way to get casuals interested in the franchise agian.

That couldn't have happened to a nicer group of people.

I had no interest in this game until I read more about the app this game is based on ingress and that one seemed far more interesting to me. I had no plans to download the game to even check it out until I saw how this thing exploded all over. Not only is it all over the mainstream outlets just like Pokemon was in 1999 but I also had School friends who never admitted into liking Pokemon back when we were kids tweeting about catching a flippin' geodude.
I never expected it to be this huge and I finally downloaded the game to see what I'm missing out on. |

I wouldn't really call this a "game" its more like a walking app where you capture pokemon. I imagine that's the hype with casuals.

Be careful when hunting for Pokemon, muggers apparently exploits the app.

Tried it a little bit yesterday and today, for fun. It's all right for what it is.
