Looks like Rebels as expected and I'm guessing the show will be basically Rebels in a different time period. My wishlist stands:

Spoiler:
Here's my wishlist for the show:

*Exploit BB-8, he was such an awesome addition to Episode VII and sadly got ignored in Ep. VIII.
*Continue the fanwankery of using the continuity of Clone Wars/Rebels to tell stories with characters we saw in those series. It really helped Rebels feel like a more established universe.
* Try to adapt some stories, haven't watched S3/4 of Rebels so no spoilers but if General Thrawn wasn't killed or Hier to the Empire adapted, maybe it can be adapted in some way, not just that but other fun post OT EU stories
*Goes without saying but try to make the sequels make more sense by
explaining all the problems of going back to the OT in the 30 year span.
*Have an episode with Finn as a storm trooper before he ever met the others
*It's time for Jar Jar Binks to return
*The Empire should really be dealt with a minimum, have more fun stories but based on Leia/Poe being integral parts of the plot I'm guessing that's hoping for too much

But still, we're in general stuck in western countries with "Comics and cartoons are only for children" (even videogames seem to still suffer from this). Japan doesn't seem to have the same problems, with their manga and anime.

Yeah, no thanks. Thank god Clone Wars is getting a final season.

Star Wars Rebels was toned down from Clone Wars but most of it was still good. This art style looks awful here and you can tell the writing is toned down for kids.

I like the art style it's cg but celshaded but that trailer looks bland as f-ck and keeping it as safe as it can. RIP Star Wars.

i used to wonder how much time filoni had left at lucasfilm being a lucas loyalist.

with this show, it does not feel like his signature style at all. it feels bland, safe, and cheap. and it looks weird as hell. like a PS1 video game.

I'd be shocked if he had anything to do with it, and it just had his name to try and keep the fans happy.

then ep 8 and solo hit. the course correction happened and clone wars of all things comes back..hmm...

I came accross this on the discussion for this show on another of my daily forums: "What is Star Wars Resistance, and why are people so pissed about it?" (https://www.reddit.com/r/OutOfTheLoo...hy_are_people/)

And while I am by no means "pissed" about it, I will say that a lot of my favorite franchises seem to be going in a direction that I likely won't be following: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, Star Wars, and Thundercats.

I have no problem with the way this new series looks. I'm happy to see a new series focusing on the starfighter pilots this time.

Not watching that trash. Kind of happy about that, I already have too many things on my watchlist.

It's funny to think that the show will basically has to invent from the ground up what the titular "Resistance" is... since the actual movies they're from don't have them making any kind of sense.

They're separate from the New Republic because the New Republic is pacifistic and believe the First Order doesn't pose a threat... yet the First Order attacks the New Republic... and the Resistance is still the Resistance? Calling themselves "Rebels"? What?

Yep.

there was really no need for a 'resistance' if they won the war and where in control of the galaxy....sigh.

at this point, they just need to re instate legends, make an animated Thrawn Thriller movie, and move on from there. scrap all crap from the kennedy legacy.

I just want to know where the budget went. Clone Wars is now a decade old, why does decade old CG from 2008-2010 look better than shows today? You'd think cartoons would look better than ever in the modern year of 2018, yet now obvious dated animation from 10 years ago still holds up better.

It really makes no sense, besides the studios just slashing the budget for animators to work with.

Animation trends, along with peoples' tastes and preferences, are cyclical. Disney, WB, from all the way back to the Fleischer era, up through the stylized and simplified presentation of today's shows, it's always the same.

For a while, there's a sense of one-upsmanship all around, with everyone's animation trying to raise the bar, and things get really good. Then, you have a run where people are willing to settle for, basically, crap; especially if that "crap" sells a lot of toys, and everyone else is doing it. Eventually, there's a rebound, everyone's standards go back up, people start demanding more again, and then things once again start to sparkle and shine.

Compare Popeye shorts from the 1930s to those from the 1960s, for example. Or Fleischer Superman in the 40s to the Filmation Superman show in the 60s, then once more to the 1990s Superman animated series (which itself paid great homage to the Fleischer shorts). Or even the original, classic Disney animated films, to the mid-period "animation ghetto" stuff of the 60s and 70s, and then back to the "Second Disney Renaissance" of the 1990s.

Sometimes the trends last longer or shorter, but they're usually measured in at least a decade. The cycle goes "Beauty - Crap - Beauty" on a loop.

We're currently in a "crap" phase, despite technology vastly improving, because it's what people are presently willing to settle for. That will eventually change again.

The show isn't even out yet, and it looks like he voice actress playing General Leia has been fired over a tweet.
