It's almost as if the art director has heard how bothered he's made people with his character designs and is just leaning into it at this point. "You thought that was bad? Watch this."

Yes, and in the meantime we have IDW to stop from grinding our teeth. Since I cannot get interested in it I just ignore it since we have an alternative. Hope that Vegita-San likes IDW's offering.

Congrats PD Megatron Shredder, I think you've moved one step up in rank and are no longer quite the most ridiculous and robotic looking Shredder.

I heard of Rise introducing Shredder awhile ago and couldn't find any video..
Turns out he hasn't really official debut yet but rather just his armor.
I will have to check it out in person. If the paint looks good and not that hard to get I might get one for my collection.
This may be a spoiler to some people **

Seems like they are adding more mystic background to the Shredder which isn't the first time creators went with this approach. 2003 series was pretty much faithful to the comics but introduced outer space alien element to Shredder and then a mystic background during the Ninja tribunal arc. That turned out to be a really good story.
The IDW series also introduce mystic/alien tech to the Shredder/Foot clan mythology. It's nessessary to keep the strengthen the story since when Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman first created Shredder he was suppose to be a one off villain so there were the ninja element to him but nothing else to make him more interesting.

I like Rise, but this is another reminder that Rise was established upon the design aesthetic of the Bay-verse movies.

And he isn't.

donning the Kuroi Yōroi (the armor), Shredder became a demon. Which, y'know NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE... Oh, wait, we did in in the 2003 show.

Sure, it's not a very appealing costume, but it's no dumber looking then Tengu Shredder's outfit, FF Cyber Shredder, SotO Super Shredder, Next Mutation Shredder, 2012 Mutant Shredder, 2003 Ch'rell's default Shredder outfit, SuperMutant Shredder (anime) or both Bay-Shredder looks.
