I was on vacations when this new came out.
So freaking glad everybody is making this happen: sometimes these sort of project never come to life because people in charge don't feel like doing it, so we can be really thankfull this is coming.
Full Sakai art means HD version for me, there's no other way.

I glanced the article to not get too deep with spoilers (not that I mind, really), and the one thing that stood out to me was this is the same Usagi interacting with the IDW Turtles. This is really interesting to me! Has the IDW Turtles been made aware of the overarching Turtleverse yet?

Sort of, Renet hinted at that when talking to them during the B&RDE mini series.

It's an interesting choice. I would've thought Sakai would have wanted to visually distinguish the IDW TMNT from the Mirage TMNT a little more (the wraps, etc.). These just basically look like the Mirage TMNT.

What I'm curious about is whether the hardcover edition will be deluxe-sized.

These are the IDW turtles. Stan just draws them the same way, which I think is neat.
It's also been rumored that in the story Usagi recalls his meetings with the Mirage turtles and has to get accustomed to these new guys. Very interesting stuff.

To be fair, lot's of IDW characters don't have consistent anatomy. Hob's tail seems to pop in and out of existance.

Plus, name a single species of turtle that doesn't have a tail.
