Just got to the mid point of the Jack Kirby Fantastic Four run (after Galactus and the first few appearances of Black Panther) and it is godly. I can see how influential it is now.

I also just finished reading the original 25-issue Savage She-Hulk series that ran from 1980-82.

How are you reading Kirby's Fantastic Four run? Did you spring for the omnibus edition?

Three omnibi and one Masterworks volume that I have been slowly reading over the last few months. They used to put way more text in comics back in the '60s.

I am almost up to the third omnibus now.

My copy of the New Gods/Fourth World omnibus is on its way to my mailbox; I'll probably read that after Fantastic Four.

I tried to read some Marvel Comics over the past month but it's been a failure, not interesting at all. Right now reading Young Avengers, not bad at all. It's got a strong start hopefully it continues that way.

This is mostly for comics but it says books and other literature so I'm adding a book. I bought 'Fairest of all' for my daughter, the evil queen's story, I was surprised that it was actually a good read. (not written for little children despite where it comes from)

The English translation of the bansenshukai, a ninja manual. Or rather skimming and reading some parts here and there, it's a pretty dense book but it's interesting

Today I read Deviations. My order of most entertaining to sorta enjoyable is as follows:

-TMNT
-G.I. Joe
-The X-Files
-Ghostbusters
-Transformers

I have never read any G.I. Joe before. It almost got first from me. X-Files almost got second. I could have done without reading Transformers.

I have been reading the DeFalco run on Amazing Spider-Man. I picked up where the Essentials series left off with #249 and am currently on #284, the start of Gang War which finishes the run. I am not sure where I will stop on the title. It was really front-loaded with the Hobgoblin drama, Harry and Liz's son being born( why name him after Norman after what he did?), the Black Cat and her super powers, and the Puma as well as the alien costume and MJ revealing she know's Peter's secret and her own past. Then it was a year's worth of forgettable one-shots with no weight. The run is not well balanced. I am aware of the climax of Gang War which has the Hobgoblin reveal that was fought over editorially and took a decade to rectify.

I took a break and read Secret War (1984) after I got through #274. It was an interesting read. I just wish some of the villains got more focus. Dr. Doom, Klaw, Galactus and Magneto (as an anti-hero) got all of the attention along with a villain I was not familiar with, Molecule Man. It was great to see Dr. Octopus included, but he did not do anything aside form chastise Dr. Doom and Molecule Man at different times and that was it.

Last week started Walking Dead and also started Carl Barks Uncle Scrooge. Tonight I finished up issue 24 of TWD and issue 6 of Scrooge. I have more Scrooge available for reading but need to find me some more TWD.

My last reading is Green Lantern: Earth One.

The origin story of Hal Jordan in another universe. They took some liberties as to the original material, but it was interesting:

Spoiler:

- No oath anymore, and the rings doesn't choose their bearer on moral qualities. It's more a finder/keeper thing.

- The manhunters were created by the gardians to destroy the GLC.

- Hal Jordan isn't a jet pilot, he's an astronaut.

- Some changes in characters: Kilowog is now a scientist, Hal Jordan isn't a hothead charging head first, Arisia is more warrior.

In fact, they could use that story in the DCEU. Replace Hal Jordan by John Stewart, and Veca Trana by Hal Jordan. It would fit the "buddy movie" and give a great place to the GLC.

I started reading Wool, the first part of the Silo series, during my trip to Amsterdam. I'm not very far yet, but it seems to have potential.
