I bought a bunch of them and they're gorgeous. You can make them yourself, but its not worth the hassle for me. I'm not really a "complete" buyer for SNES, so getting carts and buying some of those cases for them is the way I've been going. It really looks waaaay better on a shelf than a pile of loose carts.
I've got a set on the way, including that TMNTIV one actually. I'll take some pictures when they show up. |

Good quality paper? And do the games fit nicely inside the case itself? (They look like universal-type cases, so my main concern would be jiggling or having my games sit lopsided in the things.)
Hmm. Anal-retentive much? |

I'm the same way. They're good prints on good paper and the cases fit games perfectly. No rattling and no wedging things in. However, the SNES dust guards don't allow the cases to close if you keep them on (not that you need them) and I don't believe the manuals fit well, but for plain old loose carts its absolutely perfect.
Anyways, I was thinking about this last night after watching some very long and overwhelming game collection videos - do you guys think a huge collection of everything is cool, or is the curated collection more appealing? Personally, I'm all for not owning a copy of every ****** licensed NES game that I know I'll never play. It's very hard for me to understand the mentality behind "I have to own all of it even if it's super ugly and bad," especially when it comes to people who collect for multiple consoles. |

I've always felt a more specific or carefully thought out collection was more interesting than a "I OWN EVERYTHING EVER" collection. Its also more personal.
I may not collect all the retro stuff, but in regards to the stuff I do collect, I feel like I have more interest in attaining very specific characters/figures/etc. Rather than needing every goddamn figure from a **** line. And with those cases, I think that may have some effect on what you look for in terms of games. Like, a game might be ******, but theres some nostalgia, -and- the case is neat. |

Nostalgia is definately a thing for games and I'd assume for figures as well to a certain degree. I own copies of sh*t like Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout and MC Kids, but that's because I owned them when I was young. I'm not going to dump them because they're awful, but I'm also not running out to buy a copy of Ice Climbers just to have it.
Anyways, funnily enough I got those cases today, Ecto. Snapped some shots of the TMNT one for you. Looks absolutely gorgeous and incredible when you've got a set of them lined up. The cart doesn't snug its way in and is fairly loose when the case is open, but once it's closed it's solid and even shaking it around causes very little movement. Fully recommend it and fully recommend Retro Game Cases in particular. Shipping was fast and the dude offered to give me a discount on return business. Really worth it. Front Spoiler:

The full set I got today. Absolutely beautiful. Spoiler:

That artwork for a lot of old video game stuff is incredible. It's so far beyond the absolute sh*t they slap on games now.

agreed, the older video game art is simply superior in every way imo. There are very few game art from todays generation that I would even consider good.

Likewise with movie poster artwork, I suppose. The shift away from hand-drawn illustrations towards photos and digital effects was a mixed bag at best.
Look at movie posters from the 1980s -- like Indiana Jones, The Empire Strikes Back, or Back to the Future. Sh*t is class. ...Also: ordered that copy of Judge Dredd for the SNES. It'll fit nicely alongside the copy of Dredd I bought last night. Sweet flick. |

Nice! I just bought a copy of Stinger from them on the weekend. Super reasonable prices. Thinking about making a trip to the flea market this weekend to do some digging. Hopefully I can cop some more deals.

Those NES repro boxes look especially nice to my eyes.

They do well by the NES by having a consistent Nintendo Entertainment System logo on the spin of cases that makes it look really uniform as well. Again, it looks really really nice on a shelf.
I feel like there's no definitive position on SMB2. Such a weird and divisive game. Certainly it's my least favourite core Mario game. Edit like 10 times because typing on a phone is the pits. |

Battletoads/Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team coming from New Jersey and Judge Dredd on its way from Quebec, and I am way more excited than I have any reason to be.
Tiptoeing downstairs in the hopes of having received something is half the fun. |

Indeed! In fact, I just got home to some great packages!
Spoiler:
I also go the bulb I needed to complete my Xbox display. Now that I've swapped the controllers, rewired the lights in the logo and replaced both the burnt out display bulbs, it's in perfect working order! Woo! |
