Ashoka Disney + Series

Weeks after debuting in live-action, Ahsoka Tano is getting her own series. Thursday afternoon at Disney's annual Investor Day presentation, Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy revealed Rosario Dawson's take on the character is getting her own series for Disney+. Though the producer didn't get into specifics, she confirmed Dawson would return and the series is actively being developed by The Mandalorian producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni.

So much for the rumors of the Rebels sequel being animated.

as long as Kennedy is kept far away from this that's all that matters

It was rather obvious she would get her own series. They didn't cast her in live action for just one or two episodes.

I don't know if her own series was always a given, though. Certainly that was the hope. They wanted to see the "Reaction" to her backdoor pilot in "The Mandalorian" first. Turns out it had a hugely positive reaction! So on we go...

This is one that I'll watch. The "Rangers of the New Republic" show or whatever it's called though? Not interested at all.

This is the tipping point now. They are either going to milk it correctly, or it's going to be a disaster. Obi Wan? Correctly. Space Rangers doing karate show? Not so much....

Nice. Between this and his reprisal over on "Obi-Wan"... sh**, a little bit of a Hayden/Vader apology renaissance!

Accidentally read that as “Reprise his role as Ahsoka”

I don't really know that Ezra is actually a "Fan favorite" at all. The end of Rebels was a decent Cliffhanger though and seeing how that resolves with Thrawn would be neat.

If things gradually move towards some kind of nu-retelling of the Thrawn trilogy, complete with Luke and Han and Leia and all (whether we're talking recastings or CGI stuff) I'd be all for that. That'd be moderately exciting.

I tried watching the show with my dad and brother, but it was too gloomy Andrew somber for us. It’s a shame because we did like the Rogue One film.

Nah I think we might get some continued Luke Skywalker from The Mando universe, but any real plot-driven long-form story with the the original triumvirate I'd say won't happen. Best we can hope for is some kind of CGi re-union cameo or something.

Definitely looking forward to Mando 3 and Ashoka though - those are "Day one viewing". Haven't watched Andor yet, but I'll get to it someday.

Thanks for posting this trailer. I love this character and am really looking forward to seeing her on screen.

My biggest concern here though is that in the post OT world there are a lot of people running around with lightsabers and it just shouldn't be that way.... But still - looking forward to this one.

Here’s hoping it doesn’t end up like the super insomnia induced nonsense like that Boba Fett show. I couldn’t get through it. I still haven’t watched the specific eps that’ll have some bearing on the new Mandalorian season. I’ll get around to that someday.

Am I the only one that thinks that Lars Mikkelsen looks ridiculous as Thrawn there? I really think Benedict would have been perfect.
