The Flash tv series on CW

Seems that there's gonna be a Flash tv series on CW network. It'll be a spin-off of Arrow! So much for the "No Powers" policy.

Barry Allen will be a recurring character in season 2. The Wonder Woman series, Amazon, will still happen eventually as well.

This disturbs me. I'm excited to see Flash getting some attention, but I despise Arrow. I'd hate to see the same bastards ruin the Flash.

Never watched Arrow, I know what it's about, but what was wrong with it?

I agree. The 1990 CBS series was cool! John Wesley Shipp made the Flash awesome!
Especially that episode whee he played the guitar to defeat the foes!

Before the first season of Arrow aired the producers said there'd be No Powers. That it's a world of no super powers. With the introduction of The Flash, it seems this has changed.

Well the no powers policy seems good and to break it so fast is not a good sign but you can't have a stupid rule like that bind a show forever, just take a look at Smallville and their "no tights, no flight" rule, it actually hurt the series down the road.

I'm very excited, I always thought Flash worked better as a tv series than a movie series because I just want to see more of the Flash and you can't do that with movies. His effects can easily be done in TV budget as well. I loved the 90s tv series and actually think it holds up rather well. The fact of making a TV DCU is not a bad idea, the movie universe is being done rather nicely by Marvel, this is a way for DC to have their own universe in the mainstream without copying too much from Marvel but we'll see how things go with Batman in MOS2.

I'm not familiar with comic flash too much but Barry Allen in the TV show was great, and Wally West in JL was also great, I'm fine with either of those takes on the character. I was indeed bored with The Batman's and DCU animated movies take on the character like in New Frontier. And we don't see enough of The Flash in Young Justice/BATB but YJ's Wally was alright.

I could get behind this if they do it right. I love The Flash. I absolutely love the classic show and have always wished someone would give it another try, so this could be cool.

I don't think this was a CW/WB imposed rule as much as Tom Welling. I read an interview where he basically admitted he was afraid of the "Superman Curse" and thus had it written into his contract that he would never wear the suit. The producers had no problem with that because that wasn't what the show was about anyway. Even in the finale, what we see is CGI.

Hmm...seems that CW has decided that The Flash will be fully introduced in a stand-alone pilot instead of the intro being an ep of Arrow.

We'll still see Barry in Arrow as the 2 main episodes that introduce him have been filmed, however I guess we won't see him as The Flash in the show itself.

And casting's have begun for the West's!!

Law and Order star Jesse L. Martin has been cast as Ira West, father of Iris West/grandfather of Wally/GG grandfather of Bart. There are some um changes to his character from the comics.

In the comics he was a nobel prize winning physicist. In the show he's a police Detective who took in Barry after his mother's death and father's imprisionment. Basically Iris and Barry were raised together. Iris is Barry's BFF in the show.

This is Jesse Martin:
