Come Away: Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland Prequel

Angelina Jolie and David Oyelowo have been cast in the film "Come Away" which is set to be a PREQUEL to Peter Pan AND Alice in Wonderland... Peter and Alice are apparantly now siblings who try to keep their family together after the tragic passing of an older brother...all while having to choose between fantasy and reality... *blinks*

I.... what.

The premise is just absurd. Why not just make new characters??

Yeah, this probably isn't going to do well at all...

And the story is just full of literature and historical rips. Sure, mixed race parents might have been a thing in the ideal time frame, but holy sh*t, it would have been a miracle for a black man and a white woman to have a sustained relationship as depicted here. They wouldn't even have been allowed to legally marry, even in a British setting. A white man would have had a hard enough time trying to marry a black woman he loved during that time. Unless they have it taking place in present time, in which case...wtf.

Alice in Wonderland was a dream even in the context of its own story supposedly, and Peter came to Neverland as an infant.

This just sounds like some Hollywood Suit trying to cash in on Neverland and Wonderland being trendy.

And the fact that they talk more about Angelina Jolie and David Oyelowo in the role of the kids parents, more than the story or the kids themselves, is a bit of a red flag.

(Also, isn't Angelina a little too old to play David's wife in this scenario?)

I mean I always love crossing over fairy tale stories (I'm hoping for Digimon to one day introduce Wonderland and Oz to the universe to go along with Nevereverland with Petermon) but this doesn't sound all that interesting.

but this doesn't sound that interesting.

I'm more interested in the Alice/Dorothy show that is suppose to come out. Where both meet in the Assylum after their adventure

Is the Dorothy/Alice thing a show or a movie? I know Netflix acquired the property and I thought it was a movie but could be wrong.

"Um... there's no way a black guy and a white girl were married back in the 1800's or whenever this is supposed to take place." Literally my second thought. The first thought being, "Peter Pan and Alice teaming up is a stupid idea."

This sounds like a very "important" movie.
