My opinion on this series so far is.... mixed. I love the first two episodes; I love the characters, the premise of the underground city, and the mystical weapons. Seeing the two foot and their origami army was interesting, and Baron Draxum is a decent villain. I really love how they start with the turtles already friends with April, and start with their classic weapons (as if these turtles have already been through the opening/origin beats, and we jump right into the story). I like the humor and plot in the Draxum episode, and the foot clan episode.

HOWEVER, the other episodes leave me cold. The Warren stone Episode was terrible, the worm feels like the amoeba boys from Powerpuff girls; he wants the turtles to take him seriously, but the turtles are barely aware he exists. Hypnopotamus gets short changed in his first outing in his premiere episode. Also, I think Draxum should have been Lord Dregg or Savanti Romero, he resembles both of them. The humor gets too silly and goofy, and it's just too childish for my taste. But I'm not part of the target audience, so that's fine. So all in all, I give this show a 3 out of 5.

IDW is the best version of TMNT

If they make a TMNT reboot movie retelling the shredder battle/origin, I won't buy a ticket.

I did watch the first few episodes. It was funny I guess, but I still don't buy this new Splinter.

He looks like a copy+paste of Master Yo of Yin Yang Yo (I used to watch this show when I was a kid)

But the animation of the fights are cool.

The action sequences are better, the music is better, the comedy is actually funny, and it's A LOT better from a visual perspective in my opinion. Can't really comment on the story yet but so far I am enjoying it way more than the 2k12 series.

Lets not start this guys.
There is no Matter of Fact here, when you state something is better it is just better in your opinion and the opinions of those who feel the same. Same with all the versions.

I Still take 2k12 over this. This show ruined Splinter worse than Bayturtles did.

Hmmm, there is a ranking thread but that was before Rise and is all I think rather than just shows. Too early to do with Rise barely taken off yet?

I've not seen enough of all of them to place them in a definite order but 2012 is my top (shocker) 2k3 so far after that, not including NM as I've seen like a minute of it.

Still, obviously we will have favourites due to tones/styles story etc but comparing shows that are supposed to be different things isn't the same comparing those that aren't. (even it is all TMNT )

Incredible how it's even possible.

It's sad that this one has made me wonder if he is likewise sort of abusive or simply an uninterested and abrasive parent who sees them as an annoyance. Kind of the vibe I've gotten so far and hope that changes. By a lot.

I'm still holding onto the idea that Splinter will develop a lot over this series and grow into a much better father and sensei.

That's what I think

But I do have another theory is that he's actually a villain working for Baron Draxon to keep an eye on the turtles, that's why there's no origin story yet so everything will be revealed at the end of the series.

Old news, it was announced last Thursday at the panel, I posted it in the Rise panel thread and also updated the cast list in the official Rise thread.

Nah, even if you're just taking the first two eps into account, the humor and character interaction was better in 2012.

As for animation I'll give you that, but it's not fair to compare 2D to CG anyway. I liked the first two eps of Rise, but it really needs to be consistently good with better on average eps to surpass 2012 eventually.

Won't play for me so not sure if it's worth posting (personally Syfy's wasn't), but here (at link) is Huffington Post's visit with them too. Wish they'd have also put it on YouTube.
