I know comics and video games are a different beast altogether, but the comic could still benefit from how good that might be doing.
I heard it was #1 on the Nintendo eshop earlier this week.

It debuted at #5 via Steam:

They are and it wouldn't.

If quality is good, I hope it sells well, to own edgy boys and generally prove that FW Turtles can be quite awesome without nerfing them or altering concept too far.

I am all for co-existence of various versions of franchises, like in case of Batman, for example.

It seems like this is just a 4-issue miniseries for now but if it does well I'd expect to see more.

I suspect it'll do "about okay" with sales. It may be a curiosity grab for many.

I can already hear the people on the board, though. "They got it all wrong! It's too goofy, like the Turtles Forever Fred Wolf Turtles!" etc.

I still hold that people who made that complaint hadn't actually watched the '87 show in a while. I think it was nostalgia goggles talking. "Too goofy..." Turtles Forever was entirely faithful to how those characters acted in their own show.

Not at all.
They were acting like little kids, which barely happened in an actual series.

I think only by juxtaposition, when they're standing by and interacting with the 4Kids TMNT and especially the Mirage TMNT, who absolutely were cranked to an 11 on the grittiness scale beyond how they actually are in Mirage and all sounded like Rorshach.

Naw, the OT Turtles act so much like older teens you easily forget they're teens until they have to interact with actual human kids and teens.

I remember when I hit 13 I was like 'i'm finally the same age as the green teens!' and my friend was like 'yeah but they're more like 17 or something'.

Second. That's exactly what it was. When the whole world is crazy and less mature overall, the main characters don't stand out as much. Put 'em next to the other characters, and suddenly the lack of maturity is incredibly apparent.

Naw man, the turtles still took their adventures as seriously as possible. They wouldn't take goofy stuff like sunscreen or whatever to take down the Technodrome. Or be constantly goofing around.

The only thing 'childish' would be all the pizza references, the catchphrases and Leo's dramatic hero lines (which the movie even forgot to reference).

Agreed. Until 2k12 I've never get the impression they supposed to be teenagers, more like 16-20.

FW Turtles certainly wouldn't act scared and run to hug big brother Raph.
That was kind of jarring and in general their attitude was off. Nothing really bad, except for the moment above, but still definitely nowhere near close, even by the standards of the worst FW episodes.

Turtles Forever certainly enhanced some traits for some characters and that is undeniable.

They were all pretty much Mikey except one was smart Mikey and another was 'talk to the viewer' Mikey.

Earth technology was still more advanced on the Turtkes' Earth than on our Earth, with police robots and American police officers and army soldiers carrying rayguns (I know why). You also had the mad scientists and their inventions.

Precisely.
Turtle communicators are basically cellphones. Introducing modern technology won't be a big a deal. Now fashion is whole 'nother matter.

The video game would have to be a much bigger hit than it is right now to have a noticeable impact on sales and would have had to come out at about the same time. As it is, the game hit 3 full months before the issue will and will be completely forgotten by then. Whatever people feel their nostalgia rekindled by the game will have forgotten it for the next thing by the time the comic hits.

That's right, they should have planned it out better. The time for this comic woulda been right NOW, especially since Tokka, Rahzar, Groundchuck and Dirtbag are in the first issue just like how the'y're in the game.

I love how the futuristic stuff we saw on those old TV shows became a reality, The Turtlecom having video, With how cellphones now can do video calls.
