What's up with Mel Gibson nowadays?
In the 80s and the 90s, Mel Gibson was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood and many women considered him a very good looking man. Mad Max, Lethal Weapon, The Patriot, Braveheart and What Women Want are movies pretty much everyone saw. Who didn't love the Lethal Weapon series, come on now?
Then, he began also working as a director, The Passion of Christ was quite controversial at the time and many people considered it to be a bit too violent and uncomfortable. However, he also kept acting. Not just working as a director, but it seems like his star power diminished in the current century. Everyone gets older, so I guess that didn't help him either, but I recall Mel getting A LOT of negative attention at some point due to being caught drunk driving or something, remember that? I believe he won an academy award last year, though? So maybe his popularity might climb up a bit in the next few years? Thoughts? |

He's apparently quite a rotten person in real life, so that's a shame.
BUT. He drunkenly called a female cop "Sugar Tits." So I have to give credit where it's due, because that is amazing.

While I admire his sheer audacity, it'd be even more amazing coming from somebody who's not white! Now THEM would be BALLZ.

I often speak in Iron Sheik quotes.
Gems such as "Bubba", "A-Numbah-1", "A-to-the-Z", such-and-such being "The Real", "Cheeseburger fatass" and "Fahking Jehbroni" come not from me, but from Sheiky-Baby. The all-time greatest of course being the time he told Mean Gene, "You are Intelligent Jew." But I only whip that one out on selective occasions.

Absolutely not. Do you even Sheik, bro?
Not relevant, just hilarious.

Not really. Remember my age . But I always thought it was Luigi. Because in Mario Kart 64, when you win a race with him he says "I'm a Luigi, a numbah 1!"
..does this mean a Mario game makes a reference to the Iron Sheik? Awesome |

I guess, to be fair, it's more "A-number-VUN!" when Sheik says it.
Also, that Darth Sheik thing is the funniest thing I've ever seen, every time I remember to watch it. "You vus a WHORE, and STILL you are a f*cking whore!"

Donner keeps talking Lethal Weapon 5, even this past month... so maybe that.
"Edge of Darkness" was the last movie he did that I can say was truly awesome. Highly underrated.

Edge of Darkness was an adaptation of a BBC mini series from the 80's though? Which is...also deeply underrated. Doesn't even have a DVD release. Had Bob Peck ("Clever girl!") before he was in Jurassic Park. It also had Joe Don Baker.
Anyway, I've only really watched him in a few things. One of which was The Patriot; not really a movie I go home about except for its soundtrack and theme music. Goddamn, that theme music...

Braveheart is where it's at, score-wise. My gawds, that theme for his secret wedding, or the end when he's being executed....

Part of the “Edge of Darkness” movie was filmed near where I live. I believe there are scenes that were filmed in Northampton, not too far from Mirage Studios. Just a little Turtle fun fact

Oh, I know. Me being me, I was geeking out about that being close to Mirage Studios, Peter and Farley and all the whole way. If it wasn't all filmed there, it was set there. Somehow the idea of this massive nuclear conspiracy around there only added to my intrigue.
