Shredder vs. Splinter Dynamic
When you get down to it, every major version of TMNT involves in some way a clash between Splinter and Shredder (or sometimes Hamato Yoshi vs. Oroku Saki, or Hamato Yoshi vs. Oroku Nagi). What do you think of the Splinter vs. Shredder dynamic as it's evolved throughout the different versions? What is your favourite take on this?

I guess I like the 4Kids dynamic. Splinter hates Shredder and sees him a huge threat. While Shredder just thinks of Splinter as "The Rat", some unimportant creature not worth a second thought.

I voted for Nick/IDW, easily the most badass rivalries.

OT, Nick and IDW.
The 'pet rat vs Shredder' trope is always laughably silly and overboard absurd imo, but IDW is a better version due to the rat was actually a human being before. |

Definitely any time Splinter was a human, so FW/Nick/IDW. Why should Mirage/23K Shredder care about Yoshi's pet at all? There isn't really a dynamic at all, except on Splinter's part.

If this was asked of me 4 years ago when I became a tmnt fan, I would've said FW as I thought Shredder and Splinter being humans who were once in the same dojo but now mortal enemies is the most fascinating (I absolutely love the rare moments when FW Splinter and Shredder fight and talk about their past).
However, I vote Nick now because it took the best idea and made it much better by adding the rivarly between the Hamato and Foot Clans, Karai, Tang Shen and so much more. Its one of the reasons why Nick Splinter is my absolute favourite incarnation of the character. Edit: I like how Bayturtles is in quotation marks Someone better not vote for it just to troll. I voted for FW but honestly it was a tie between it and IDW. I love both versions and feel that they both bring something of value to the rivalry. FW with Saki getting Yoshi ousted from the Foot, and IDW by having them as rivals while also adding Tang Shen to the mix. Splinter as a pet just doesn't do much for me, in spite of how much I like the 2k3 and 90's movie versions of their past.

My vote's for IDW.
When you get down to it, Mirage didn't really have much of dynamic between Shredder and Splinter. Apart from the first time they met (when Shredder murdered Yoshi) I don't recall Spliter interacting with him again. Although I might be mistaken. The dynamic in IDW was great, they really had a connected history together and they were real enemies. Souls Winter would be my runner up, mostly because of the deep and thought provoking story and the characterization Shredder had in it (not to mention gorgeous art). |

Voted the FW Splinter/Shredder dynamic for the same reasons given. Two humans with different paths, one backstabbed the other but also rivals.
