Original Xbox controller returning for Xbox One

Microsoft is preparing for the release of the 4K Xbox One X console this winter, but before then it wants to draw your attention to a blunder from its past – the original Xbox Duke controller.

Seamus Blackley, who worked on the original Xbox, has tweeted that a redesigned version of the controller for Xbox One and Windows 10 machines has gone into tooling and been approved by Microsoft.

No release date or price has been announced for the controller, which is being manufactured by Hyperkin and has a new display (according to Polygon).

Always thought Microsoft ripped off Sega's Dreamcast design and just changed the button color layout to claim "coincidence!"

People always made fun of the original Xbox controller but I thought it was fine, I liked it. Yeah the S controller was smaller and nice as well but whatever. It definitely felt like an evolution of the Dreamcast controller. I always wanted the black and white buttons to be a little more used in games and for their placement to go along with the others instead of being forgotten all the way at the top.

I would like more 6 face button controllers to be out there, I also liked the idea of different shapes that Nintendo had going on the Gamecube. Maybe have 4 normal sized buttons, a smaller one and a bigger one. Can't be any worse than some of the third party and now kick starter controllers that we get to have the perfect controller

I played a bit of the original Xbox at a store in paris once and I indeed found its controller to be a bit bulky and uncomfortable compared to the Wavebird and especially to Dualshock.
