Jenna Dewan-Tatum (wife of Channing Tatum) has been cast as Lucy Lane! And yes in the show she's an ex of Jimmy's. So now there's a Marvel/DC couple what with Channing being Gambit (yeah he changed his mind and decided to do the Gambit movie after all)

Also Non and Sam Lane have been confirmed as appearing. Too bad Michael Ironside was cast as Capt Cold's dad in Flash. I loved his portrayal as Sam Lane in "Smallville". http://www.comicbookresources.com/ar...eral-lane-more

Actor Justice Leak (yes that's his real name) has been cast as the super villain Hellgrammite (in the show he's an alien bug man, in the comics he's a um...mutant/meta-human bug...thing)

Levi Miller (Peter Pan in the upcoming film, Pan) has been cast as Cat Grant's 12 year old son who gains a crush on Supergirl (well he can teach her flying techniques at least. *lol*). I wonder if he'll be killed by Toyman like he was in the comics?

Different character, apparently. Her son in the comics was Adam, not Carter. This show looks to be heavy, heavy on "fluff", so I'm gonna go ahead and say NO, definitely not gonna get killed by Toyman, and I'm betting they went out of their way to name him something different to really hammer home the point that it's not gonna happen.
Besides, if he gets killed off we can't watch him go all ga-ga over Supergirl with his "adorable" little puppy crush. The f*** is that sh*t, no thanks.

Peaky Blinders actor Iddo Goldberg has been cast as... T.O Morrow AND Red Tornado! So apparantly they're the same person now?!

Actor Glenn Morshower has been cast as Gen. Sam Lane. He's apparantly hiring Supergirl to do his dirty work.

So uh, we have our first look at Red Tornado:
Spoiler:
I'm guessing they're going to be adding the CGI to him later for the show. Or at least I hope so.

In an attempt to confuse the ever loving frak out of everyone. Toyman has just been cast in "Supergirl". Apparantly the Winslow Schott who is Kara's friend at work is...actually Winslow Schott JR. Well I suppose this makes some sense since Superman's been out and about for at least 20 years or more...so his villains would be older and have kids... Henry Czerny has been cast as Winslow sr/Toyman.

I caught the pilot. It's fine, I'll call it a B, but the stuff that's not great really isn't great. Supergirl herself is really good, thankfully, but pretty much the entire rest of the cast is misplaced. Like the guy playing Schott would be a great Jimmy Olsen, and the guy playing Olsen would be better off if he was named anything else (why not Ron Troupe, for example?). Pretty much every character in the show besides Supergirl is "(________) In Name Only", and I hate that sh*t. Like, all the characters serve the plot and the story just fine, but none of them act like the characters they're supposed to be, AT ALL, and that always drives me nuts. "Cat Grant" doesn't act like Cat Grant, "Jimmy Olsen" is SO NOT Jimmy Olsen in any way at all, and "Hank Henshaw" is like, pretty much some amalgamation of Paul Westfield and Sam Lane, for some reason. Hate that. Either change the story so the characters are recognizable, or use different characters. Cat Grant is not Anna f***ing Wintour. That's one of my main issues with the show, is that I absolutely hate the casting and character choices and none of that is fixable.
The absolute worst thing, though, is how they have to handle Superman. By necessity of reasons both financial and logistical, they have to mostly keep him off the board, despite the fact that pretty much nothing happens without him because he's the lynchpin of the entire mythology. There's a couple of ways they could do this, none of them satisfying but a few which could be clever if handled delicately. In THIS case, however, they've handled it by making Superman an asshole. By all we are shown, he basically dumps his younger cousin off on a farm and never sees her again for like 10 years. Kara acts like she has NO idea who he is, NEVER met him other than that one time... She's his closest living relative! I mean for f*ck's sake, think about it... a huge part of the pathos of the Superman mythology is that he's the last of his race, alone, and once in a while he wishes otherwise. SO, when he finally finds out he has family... he's NOT going to just go, "WOAH! BAGGAGE! Nope, seeya later kid", and then be a total stranger to her. It's awful. It's horribly written. I GET that they can't use Superman. There's better ways. Consider this scene, this one AWFUL scene at the end, that COULD have been a beautiful, inspiring, dramatic scene like it was trying so, so hard (and failing) to be. The scene where "Jimmy" gives Kara Kal-El's cape/blanket he was wrapped in as a baby. On the surface, it seems like it's working... until you realize that SUPERMAN, Kara's cousin and (as far as either one knows) only living family member was apparently "too busy" to give it to her himself. There is NO acceptable reason for this. He would have shown up when she revealed herself, and he DEFINITELY would have given her the cape himself, because those are the kind of things that are just absolute. There is no, "Well, maybe he wouldn't because..." No, he absolutely would. Instead, it's written like, "Hey, Jimmy! Pal! Y'wanna do me a favor? Drop this off with my cousin on your way home from work. Tell her I might swing by around Thanksgiving or something. I'll text her. Hasta." No f***ing way. Lots of stuff can only happen in this universe if Superman is a dick. Superman isn't a dick, so I can tell that a lot of stuff about this show is going to bother me, because they have to go so far out of their way NOT to include him that it's farcical. I've heard they're doing an entire episode about why Superman's never there, and I can already tell that's just going to be an ordeal to sit through, in a show that already goes out of its way to hit you over the head with things until you get it. It wasn't bad on the whole, though. But the bad is bad and not anything they can fix. But the good is really good, and I like that they look like they want to spend some money on it. There was one friggin' horrific edit during the plane-catching scene, like a really sh*tty transition that stood out mostly because the rest of it was so smooth. But most of the show is going to rest on Supergirl herself, and luckily she's really good. B.

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. I kinda hate CW shows and the lot, but when I was a kid I was obsessed with the Adventures of Lois and Clark so I gave it a watch. The actress for Supergirl is so damn perfect. She's adorable.
I'm with you on the Superman thing, Leo. Its really ****ing stupid. Either feature him or get off his dick. The more people say, 'Oh he wish he could be here. He's so proud of you. Etc.' The more they make him look like some kind of dead-beat dad. If he can't be on the show, just let Kara have her own thing and stop comparing them. |

"Gosh, Kara, I'd love to hang out and chat with my only living relative and all, but these gosh darn cats aren't gonna get themselves outta these trees." Good f*ckin' gosh.
It's not a bad show... it's a decent show with a lot of good stuff and a lot of stuff wrong with it. The good is good to the point that the bad stuff really stands out. I guess that kind of evens out. I didn't see the new one, I've been watching Flash on DVR. Sweet sassy-molassy, there's a show.
