Well in that case I'll make it super simple and say that I was trying to meet your point intellectually rather than just saying that it was dogshit and didn't make any sense given the conversation.

Nothing wrong with this at all - actually that's a point I have respect for. But there is likely a distinct cultural difference at the moment -

Here in America we are at a boiling point after years of nonsense where we are drawing lines of consumer-decision-making in regards to our entertainment. If over in Germany or wherever you are you haven't had years of this stuff piling up on you, then I'm sure your perception is different. But many people here don't want to pay for woke $#!( anymore and they don't want to pay for material where some woke $#!( @$$hole like Rogen has put his awkward and unattractive sensibility all over something, man.

And on top of that, this movie just doesn't look good on it's own merits anyway. So anybody posting that they aren't paying for this is just as valid as you not giving a $#!( one way or the other because for you it's just a means of taking your kids out for a day.

Sorry, I feel like I made perfect sense. I even mentioned that I have a general problem with this kind of fan rage. You know this conversation had me thinking - I have only seen a Ninja Turtles movie in the theaters 3 times. 1990, SOTO and TMNT (which I still think is an entertaining flick that looked decent).

Never saw part 3 in the theaters, neither of the Bay movies and definitely am not paying to see this repurposed Rise of the TMNT movie.

I said "repurposed". And those visual themes and similar version of April clearly, to most reasonable people, are also indicators of this.

I‘m not very familiar with `Rise‘ but what are the similiarities between the two Aprils? Besides, the skin colour, I mean. At first glance, they seem really different.

“Repurposed” implies a connection.

Nah, that’s not sound logic imo. Two things being slightly similar doesn’t necessarily imply one is repurposed from another. It can just be a trend, where the zeitgeist is at, or simply directions from Viacom that cause similarities. No indicator that this was once a Rise… project.

While it's possible you could pull two black April O'Neils out of the ether and end up with both of them wearing glasses, it seems somewhat unlikely as glasses has never been an April O'Neil thing until Rise. Both seem to have their hair pulled up similarly in the back.

Sure, but that doesn't indicate that one is re-purposed from another. There could be a number of reasons that both versions have a black April with glasses aside from that. I would say the hairstyles being similar is a stretch though.

From what I've seen, Rise April is super obnoxious while the character from the teaser seems rather calm. The hairstyle is also totally different. But you're right about the glasses.

We know who the character designer is, the director, the producers.

I just don’t see how all these people are working off or “Rise assets”.

I’m seeing more indications it’s just an original product. I’ve heard Seth Rogen talk about it a couple times in the last month and it seems like he’s actually pretty involved and into it, so I don’t see it.

Okay, I think the whole "Rise assets" thing was more metaphorical. I don't think it was meant literally.

This movie, in terms of it's general tone and asethetic, is CLEARLY taking a lot of cues from "Rise." It's an original TMNT story, but there's no way to look at this thing honestly and not see the clear paralles between this and "Rise." No, I don't think it's literally made of any recycled assets, but they were clearly working from the same bin of legos, if you know what I mean.
