Gotta admit that I'm a little disappointed I couldn't score the Santolouco Cover A for this issue, since I just thought it was the perfect hook for this story. I can't complain too much about getting Kevin Eastman's version, but it looks like my shop had considerably more copies of Cover B and Cover A this time around. That's happened on a few other issues as well, like with #5. I

used to think Cover Bs would be a somewhat more limited printing than Cover As; anybody want to enlighten me on how the print runs work?

really? i didn't think 21 was bad at all. sure it was pretty much filler, but it was entertaining and it's always great to see more of kevin's art. the occasional filler has a very important roll in great story telling. it allows some additional time for fine tuning of plots, creation of new/better ideas, and reflection over how the story/art have gone and will go in the future. the world of comics seems to be very fast paced, so i'm sure the brains/tallents behind it, value the breathing room the occasional filler issue provides.

regarding the first issue of city fall...I LOVED IT! art and story alike. they fit beautifully together. can't wait for more!

For the TMNT regular series, they used to be a 4:1 ratio so for every 4 that a shop ordered, 3 of them would be an A and 1 would be B. I think in more recent and upcoming issues that's changed so that A and B are just a random distribution. RI issues are still 10:1.

In regard to covers, I'm glad my local shop pulls all new TMNT for me; they sold out of the issue but I was able to get three covers.

Not as amped from the first issue as I thought I'd be, but there's definitely some interesting stuff being set up. I have high hopes for the next issue. The art is fan-freakin-tastic, though.

Curious, was anyones pull of this issue the Eastman variant as opposed to the usual A cover? I see Oldmanwinters touching on that above, I'm curious if they fudged up the printing somehow and made more than they shoulda or something.

My shop does seem to have a lot of B covers, like I said earlier though, they pulled all three covers they got in for me and sold out all of their "general public" stock so it's hard to tell with this issue. If it's really a 4:1 ratio though, it could just be that many shops are just getting a lot of copies.

I'm definitely happy to have it, it's a great cover and I didn't have to pay the usual mark up. I'm just bummed I wasn't able to get the Santolouco cover as it definitely defines the series & sets the tone right off the bat. Eventually I'll nab one. Just a curious thing...

Awesome issue!

On the covers - I get a B in my box and my store had an A on the shelf, so it seems like they got an even split (depending on which covers they'd put away for other people).

Shouldn't this thread either be renamed 'TMNT #22 discussion' or merged with the city fall discussion thread? Some of you are talking about the cover situation but there are also others who are leaving their opinions on the issue here (like myself a while back)

IDW TMNT #22 Discussion Thread

I didn't readily see an active thread aside from the "CityFall Arc" thread, so while I have stickied it for the entirety of the arc, feel free to discuss the individual issues as well.

It was already kind of being discussed in this thread:

http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/showthread.php?t=42916

Maybe those can be moved over here?

Didn't want to start a spoiler thread for this so...
Spoiler:
why was Casey's blood black? There have been a few issues(off hand I can't remember) that have had blood red splatters. But after Casey's stabbed, every panel that has blood, has it colored black.
Mr Waltz?

Spoiler:
Not completely true, the blood on Casey's lips in the last panel is red. It is curious that its black in the earlier panels though.

My bad on the two threads, I created the "City Fall" thread thinking this was just for the preview before the issue.

Just got it (along with Baxter Stockman) today.

Is it me or did the artwork look better and a little more detailed in The Secret History of the Foot? Still great artwork, I mean that, best the series has had (aside from Eastman of course).

The story was fast paced and I didn't expect the ass whooping to happen so fast. I like seeing Kitsune make a powerful roll, so far Shredder's main allies in the foot are female (Karai, Kitsune, Aloplex).

Without giving away too much what they did to Casey was brutal! and I for one am ready to see Shredder and the Foot beat the snot out of those Savate fairies.

I was surprised to see Splinter go along with them on this mission, I noticed how recently he's been going out on their missions more instead of watching soaps.
