The Technodrome Chat! - Improved!

You probably all know about the unofficial IRC channel where some of the forum regulars hang out and talk. Now, I know what most of you are thinking - this IRC stuff is so confusing, I have no idea of IRC networks, I don't want to install an IRC client and so on. But, there is a soltion

And so, I give you The Web-Based IRC client! It will connect you and let you chat in #TheTechnodrome IRC channel directly from your browser and without the need of installing or doing anything. Yes, I know it's too good to be true, but it is

Just click the link.

The only thing required for it to run is Java, but most systems have it installed anyway nowadays, so I doubt any of you will have problems.

When you join, your nickname will be NinjaTurtle with some random number. It will be a good idea to change your nickname, so others know who they're talking to. You can use the /nick your_nickname command or the Change nick field in the bottom right corner of the IRC client.

And finally, remember that the IRC channel is in no way associated with The Technodrome forum administration. In case of problems or questions, please, contact the IRC channel operator(s).

One might note that this was all Onyx' work. From the planning to the actual interface, it was all him. So all thanks should go to him.

This is not a new chatroom, but merely another way of accessing the IRC-channel we set up a long time ago. People who use mIRC, Sysreset or Chatzilla, can still use that, it doesn't make much of a difference.

Anyways, please bookmark the link and appear every now and then. Right now, the "european shift" is waiting.

Come and join us. This way of chatting doesn't require any registration (like MSN chat thingie we had) or configuration and installation (like IRC clients) - nothing at all. You just click on the link and - w00t! - you're here! Wonderful, ain't it?

You mean you get a X when you click on the link? If so, make sure you have Java installed, this is the only reason why it wouldn't work...

I get this when I try and connect
[21:33] Unable to connect : java.security.AccessControlException : access denied (java.net.SocketPermission irc.irchighway.net resolve)

Okay so I installed Java again but it still doesn't work.

I get this message when I try to connect - "Unable to connect : java.net.SocketException : Software caused connection abort: connect" - I think it's probably something to do w/ my firewall settings. I'll have to check it out when I have more time.

To both of you - either it's your firewall settings or some other local settings, either the IRC servers were down or under maintnance when you tried. I'd suggest you try again later and if the problem still occurs, then tweak your firewalls.

As for Java, you got the applet loaded and showing you a message, which means that Java is installed and working.
