Hey, I've been trying to get on the past few days, but it won't let me on. It says it can't establish a connection. Has anyone else had that problem?

Can't say I have, but if there is an issue, I am afraid that it lies with the web interface, not the chat itself. But even when I try to use the web interface it works fine for me.

You could always try the oldschool-version and access the channel with an IRC-client. I personally recommend UPP, because it's the most comfortable client to use. Instructions on how to get to the channel can be found here. Just substitute MIRC with UPP and you're good to go.

So that there's no confusion, here's the updated IRC Tutorial for those who want to join us via an IRC-Client. This tutorial will lead you to the same place the web client does. I locked the other thread to avoid confusion with two threads.

Downloading and installing mIRC

go to Sysreset.com and download the full installation pack and the upgrade.
Install the program
Run the installed program
Fill in your personal details and click OK
The window will close and a grey “Favorites”-box may or may not appear appear. If it doesn't, just ignore all the lines dealing with it.

Joining servers and channels

Cancel that “Favorites”-box
Type /server irc.irchighway.net at the bottom of the big white window you see and press “Enter”.
A lot of writing will appear. Don’t pay attention to that.
The favorites-window will appear again. Cancel that again
Again, at the bottom of the big white window (where all the writing appeared), write /join #thetechnodrome and press enter
Now you’re on our channel.
Add our channel to your favorites, so that you don’t have to go through all this next time you join. Or add it to Autojoin. We'll be happy to guide you through this in the channel.

Basic commands on the channel

/me: Everything following that is an emotion like *shrugs*
/nick followed by your new nickname lets you change your nickname

Downloading on IRC

Type !list
A lot of writing will appear. Look out for the parts starting with /CTCP
Copypaste one of those CTCP-triggers. NOTE: The text is highlighted, you just don't see the highlighting.
Click "accept"
Use IRC-commands to navigate through the folders.

IRC-commands

dir:Shows you the content of a folder (folders are marked by not having a file extension and their names are written in CAPS)
cd: followed by a foldername takes you into that folder
cd..: takes you back one folder
get: followed by a filename (sans the filesize) starts the download for the file you requested.

Ugh, this is rediculous. I can get in, but it will not connect to the channel, no matter what I do!

I've done what seems to be everything to get on, but I know I'm not doing something. Other wise I wouldn't be having this problem. Anyway, once I find out why the hell I'm not connecting, I should be on.
