Understood.
Back in topic. http://time.com/5211363/maryland-hig...lins-lovesick/ So the new theory is this 17 year old was illegally in possession of a firearm, and went after a girl who told him no. In addition to that, no one is entirely sure if the good guy with the gun actually killed the shooter, and he certainly wasn't a deterrent. So the story here is this, if you have a son, or male children in your life, it is your duty to raise them to believe that they are not entitled to the affections of any romantic partner they wish. I don't know what to tell you if you have a daughter, or girl children in your life. Because when an armed guard isn't enough to protect her from unwanted advances... Yeah, I've got nothing.

Agreed, but as they say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
I'm seeing reports that the girl is considered brain dead, and all because she told a boy no, and he couldn't handle the rejection.

I don't think it's literally, "I need to have 'The Talk' with Little Timmy and tell him not to go on a rage killing spree when Little Susie spurns him." I think it's more spending time with your kid, being a good example, maintaining a stable home life, actually doing things with them (getting out there, not hanging out or sitting them in front of YouTube), keeping them active in after school sports and/or activities and doing whatever you can to minimize outside negative influences... "Right" and "Wrong" will come on its own from there.
In other news, a school district in Pennsylvania has found their solution to in-progress school shootings: a bucket of rocks in the classroom. I'm not making this up. http://pix11.com/2018/03/23/students...ntendent-says/

Very sad. No one deserves to be in an abusive relationship. Or not even a relationship in this instance but more like the victim of a sociopathic stalker.

The 16-Year-Old Girl Who Was Shot At Her Maryland High School Has Died
So let's remove the gun from the scenario, because that seems to be all the rage these days. Let's say that he had a knife, or really any other weapon. Heck, let's just say he used his own two hands. How do we stop that from happening again? Domestic abuse is all to very real, and not something that can be easily dismissed as a mental illness. So what do we do now?

Too bad the little bastard himself died so he won't someday have to be a 40-year-old sitting in prison thinking about the life he took away from this girl and all that she'd have missed at that point... Maybe he was enough of a nut that he never would have considered it, but hopefully by then it might have dawned on him. Pity his parents though who must be wondering where they went wrong... |
