TMNT Universe #19 Preview and Discussion
https://www.idwpublishing.com/produc...s-universe-19/
Looks like the backup is a "Kingdom of Rats" prelude...

That's either a really early preview or this issue was bumped up from Valentine's Day to next Wednesday
Looks good though, Wachter's art is looking good

And yeah, I love Wachter's art. It feels like Raph has transferred his "angry mutant rival" grudge from Alopex to Zodi...

Cool. It's always a pleasant surprise, finding out that a comic you've been waiting for is coming out a week early

Finally a story driven issue, the last few Universe issues since the end of the Karai arc have been rather meh, this one looks to have great art and story material.

"I swear Splinter trained samurai instead of ninja..."
Beautiful. May be in the running for best line in the series.

"Something about it just fried her suit"
Somewhere out in the distance, Harold sensed the comment and started screaming. - The stolen pets thing makes me think of Dregg's "animal warehouse". - So...we're bringing in homunculi now...that's...[Full Metal Alchemist joke intensifies] - And wow that prelude was a whole new level of uncomfortable...look at all the brown...

What IS a homonculus? I looked it up on Wikipedia, but I'm still ignorant. Please explain?
I freaking love Zodi. Zero interest in redemption or becoming neutered like Alopex. (Sorry, spayed.) And this issue ended EXACTLY where I assumed it would. Also, I don't care for the way Rat King was drawn this issue... way too much like a goblin. I prefer him to look unsettlingly human.

I have to wait until later to read it,but it is nice to see Boboy Curnow as the writer of the backup.

I'd like to think we're revving up to a focused Null-centric story arc or two in the near future... because this is definitely a big operation she's got going on.

Really liked this issue, it was nothing amazing but seeing Raph/Alopex in action infiltrating Null's operations and go up against Zodi and some zombie (?) workers was good. The art is fantastic, the artists captures the gritty aspect of TMNT which says a lot given this issue was filled with mutant animals.
I'd prefer if the Snake mutant doesn't talk, sometimes I like the monster/insane mutants who just exist for a fight and not much more. It's not like every mutant needs some deep character or motivation. And the back-up was very good. I love how it ties into Rat King's upcoming arc. His face looked drawn more like a rat this time around, he barely looked human. |

So they're making Androids att Null? I guess we'll find out soon. In the meantime, let's discuss the purpose.
Repopulating a planet? Sleeper agents? Slaves? |

(You can thank the Hellboy and B.P.R.D. comics for teaching me that) In the context of this issue though, it could mean anything. Cloned mutated human drone workers, androids, cyborgs, who knows (Bobby does! I bet we have to wait to find out though ) I would definitely guess they're some type of automated workforce. I imagine Null has figured out that the less actual people she has working for her, the easier it will be for her to do her dirty deeds.

I guess Null is thinking that Old Hob won't wreck her toys if she uses vat-grown humans instead of mutants.
