What Time do the Turtles Sleep?

Since the Turtles have to lay low during the day, it’s best to assume that the Turtles would sleep during the day and go topside at night for whatever reason. My guess around 6-7 am EST and wake up after noon to train and daily routine and topside business after sunset.

They are asleep from 5am-12pm most likely.

I would assume they patrol the streets at night when everyone else is sleeping. and then sleep all morning afterward. They probably wake up in the afternoon.

The problem is cartoons like to show them doing all sorts of morning/afternoon stuff with no signs of sleeping in. It even seems they have to wake up early morning for their daily training. Kinda looks like they only get an hour or so of sleep between night missions and early training.

They slept nights in the lair in the original series, except during nighttime missions.

Haha, that is true. In "Enter the Shredder," they made a big deal about waking up early and not eating breakfast until they practice. And in the 4Kids cartoon, Splinter seemed to have strict bedtime expectations that they always violated by sneaking out at night.

Seems like the TMNT should be far more concerned with getting underground before dawn than most shows portray them.

I've always kinda wondered, because you have someone like Leo who's all like "It's 7am, get up, we need to start training!" But if they're running the city all night... Um. Didn't we just go to bed?

Heroes never sleep.

(Side note, I literally saw the above line a Batman onesie at work for kids 9 months and under. Funny because it's true... of both heroes and young infants. lol It sold out pretty fast.)

Maybe most often they try to be home by midnight if it's an uneventful night? What we see are the crazy ones that keep them up all hours.

Why would the turtles be out patrolling every night, even if no signs of enemy activities have been spotted?

See my last two lines. Though vs. what, be cooped up in the lair all the time? Sure, they can go out and play around instead and we see them do it sometimes, but they still tend to be keeping an eye out for trouble even just for their own safety, so technically it's still semi patrolling by nature.

As pop culture icons in the OT, they would sleep like the average American (night to morning, Pizza tv dinner before going to bed late) but would not be allowed to indulge too much because of Splinter's strict discipline routine, and because there would be the occassional emergency that would force them to the surface during nightime.

The Nick turtles though are definetly nocturnal, since we hardly ever see them out and about during daytime.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

I have a good laugh thinking about the IDW turtles and how little sleep they must have been getting as of late.

Probably even less when the Triceratons leave, considering the state that New York will be in.

The turtles are pretty buff, so they probably sleep a lot, but maybe not all in one go. You need to get a fair amount of sleep to build muscle mass and recover from the crazy physical stuff they do.

I think Batman sleeps in short bursts - like an hour at a time or so.

It depends which incarnation of the turtles, 2k3 seemed to really be out there all night so they likely slept most of the day.

For the OT they appeared more often during the day and based on where the sun was placed they were already in full gear outside by noon. Also they constantly watched April and I got the idea that she was the AM news broadcaster.

The 5am to noon seems most likely the time of the Nick 2012 turtles.

But again, the 2K3 Turtles are still seen everyday activity during the day. There's no signs of sleeping in and they're up early for training.

Didn't they stay home much during the early episodes because Splinter was afraid they should get into trouble, then they began to search for Splinter and later like City at War they went patrolling the streets more like an everyday routine?

The 2016 film did similarly... The part where not-April tells them they can't go out because the sun was coming up, and then after they'd been busy all night, did we see them decide to get some sleep? No, they messed around at home until it was dark out.

Granted we didn't see hours worth of how they spent their time, but it would have made sense to show them choosing to go get some rest first; and then maybe jump scene to them waking back up later, and then doing whatever until it was dark.

Though I'm not sure anyone (among major characters including humans) slept in that film, despite it spanning a few days... (Or changed clothing much?)

Basically, I guess the Turtles don't sleep. (Or they have more hours in their day than we do.) It's a wonder they aren't all grumpy like Raph. lol
