Rarest TMNT Comics?

Which TMNT-related comics are the rarest. And no, it's not just Mirage, Archie, Image, and IDW. It can be anything. Manga, Fleetway, Dreamwave, even things like newspaper strips.

Turtlemania Gold (10 copies)
Turtlemania Silver (100 copies)

Mirage:
Gobbledygook #1 and 2 (if it counts for the TMNT ad on back cover) (50 copies each; some sources say 150 copies each)
TMNT vol 1 #1 6th printing hardcover (500 copies)
TMNT vol 1 #3 NYCC variant (500 copies)

Tales of the TMNT vol 2 #32 and #70 (final issue)

Volume 4 #25 and 26 seem very hard to track down.
Also #29 and #30 (1,000 copies each)

Archie:
The last few issues had a lower print run as Turtle mania had died down (72 was the last issue).

Image:
Also the last few issues of this series, same reason (I think 23 was the last issue).

IDW:
There are plenty of variants with low print runs, however I do not really collect them so I can't speak to which ones.

Those are the rarest from the top of my head.

Not counting stuff like first prints or limited covers, I'd say the rarest issues are:

- Later half of the Image run
- Archie Special #11
- Mutanimals #9
- Tales of the TMNT #32

Interesting that you mention 25 and 26. I got those without much problem but have never seen 28 and 29.

I guess Vol. 3 #24 & #25 are also extremly rare.
Besides Volume 3 #15 - #23, Tales of the TMNT #68 - #70, Volume 4 #25 - #30.

The last Vol 4 #29 i saw, sold a few days ago for 275$.
Also #30 seems completely gone. After Mirage had them on their website for the second time the prices are rising to insane amounts. And the movie isn't even out yet.

Yeah that would certainly be it when it comes to semi-official TMNT comics.

I wonder how many people actually jacked off to it...

Volume 3 (the Image run) only officially had 23 issues. Issues #24 and #25 are fan made productions written by Andrew who is a member on the boards here.

Growing up I would have sworn TMNTA #13 and #16 belonged on that list. I didn't get to read either issue until the age of the internet began. Neither was ever available through Archie's back issue orders back in the day. I just finally found a copy of #13 maybe three years ago.

It took me about a year to find #26. However I was patient and didn't want to pay a high price. I suppose it can be had at higher prices more often. Still, a search of current and completed listings on ebay turns up nothing.
Pretty much everything from 25 and up is rare to some extent (except 32 which at the moment is still available on Mirage's site. In the future it will be rare).

I don't know how sought-after it is, but the Cowabunga Comics - TMNT Benefit Book done by Mirage for the Friends of Children, Inc. charity in 1991 is not commonly found. No idea what sort of print run it had.

Interesting thing about that Turtlemania Silver. While having double the print run, it seems to appear FAR less often than the Gobbledygook pair. I wonder if it is because it's difficult to tell the difference between the white and the silver without them sitting next to each other (or looking at the back), or because it's just lesser known....or both.

Was there any change in rarity since this thread was opened?

I have in mind the 500 copies of Digital Webbing Presents #24 (TMNT cover) that I really can't find anywhere anymore.

Vol 4 #31 & #32 should be added here with a 1000 copy print run....

And I have a copy of either 25 or 26 for sale... lol.

Mirage volume 2 #10 was the one that took me forever to find cause it got delayed a few months due to the studio flooding so it didn't have a huge print amount compared to others. Got lucky that someone on here had one for sale when I posted about it a few years ago.
