It's neat, and I'll probably get one if it doesn't vanish like morning dew in the sun like the NES did. But the game roster is a bit underwhelming.

So they release the elusive Star Fox 2 that people wanted on the Virtual Console for more than a decade, on something that Nintendo's going to barely make any shipments on and then stop production on in a few monthes like the NES classic?

WTF?! What on earth was stopping them from putting Star Fox 2 on the Virtual Console since the Wii days then?

Bless you, Nintendo, for finally releasing Star Fox 2.

Curse you, Nintendo, for making it exclusive to a low-production run novelty item where production will fall far short of demand.

Even without an exclusive like this, that thing was gonna sell out hours before release day.

What are odds it ever gets put on the Virtual Console or whatever the Switch's service is called?

I would say high but with Nintendo you never know, the VC is not even a priority for Nintendo and people will defend them for the lack of basic features and Reggie will continue to tell us to "Wait for what's coming". We've waited for over ten years for decent online and are still waiting

What's stopping Nintendo to do really basic things in all their systems?

Nintendo gotta Nintendo.

We hate them for it but it's also why we love them.

Cool! It also comes with the never before released Star Fox 2 game, to unlock it, you just have to beat the first level of Star Fox.

That's a great list of games, even if not as plentiful, it's cheaper than getting them on Virtual Console, not only are they all big hits, no padding with smaller games like "Pilotwings" that the NES Classic had but it has games that have never been included in the VC like Star Fox, the never released ever in any shape or form Star Fox 2, Yoshi's Island.

So for many years I got called an idiot for saying that there was no evidence that Nintendo couldn't release the games because they didn't have the rights of the SFX chip but while there has to be something going on, I knew Nintendo wasn't holding back just because of some licensing issues. Fandoms love to create stories about why a certain product can't be produced and then they believe it as fact when there is no evidence. Same thing happened with Earthbound, surely there was something holding it back but it's something we won't ever know and not the speculated reason and nothing is impossible.

Even with less games and at 80 bucks it will sell out like the NES classic, could it have less demand? Sure but there's enough people out there to make this unavailable until Nintendo stops producing them.

They had me at Star Fox 2.

So according to this article, the controller cords will be longer than the ones for the NES Classic controllers. They'll be about five feet long.

Do these things even play normal SNES carts? I'll just keep my SNES, thank you.

The entitlement in this thread is astonishing. It's a novelty item, people. Jesus Christ.

I think the thing is the vast majority of people who post here don't know much about the industry or games. Too many casuals.

In any case, the vast majority of these games are up on the Virtual Consoles, with the exception of Starfox and Starfox 2. So if you want any of these games and don't want to buy this, you can get them all easily. In fact I wonder if the two SNES Starfox games will be put up on the Virtual Console now.

Yeah, but if you read the article, you'll see they are actually getting stiffed on some of the better games present!
