Disgusting.

May he be dismissed post haste, and let's throw Lobdell out with him.

As a comic geek, I typically hate to typecast comic geeks as sex-starved, socially awkward weirdos, but we've already talked here in various other threads about the state of the comics industry and the "dork age." The inmates have taken over the asylum, and those nerds are the ones running things now. Therefore, they are responsible for the status of that industry.

No one--especially someone with clear talent and discipline like that of Katie Jones--should ever have to be in a position where they fear working for a comics company because they'd have to deal with that kind of harassment.

On the other hand, this passage from the article got me thinking, too:

Quote:
But I am also wary of a kind of mob rule. There are people whose actions are on different levels to one another, or maybe even entirely innocent, will be tarred with the same brush as the worst offender. There is no room here for the acceptance of remorse, repentance, redemption or rehabilitation. Again, this may not be a concern for some...

The sad truth of it is, this isn't new.
It's all been going on for a very long time.

Welcome to the background radiation.

I know Berganza well, that f*cker. Two Comic-Cons he was snatching up women right in front of me (remember Summer, plastron?). One of which I know he baited with promises of getting her a job as a colorist, which he did... and now she doesn't work there anymore, after he fell out of favor (or maybe she started saying "no").

So has anybody ever pressed charges against this guy? It seems to be common knowledge at DC that he has these tendencies, which would apparently make it easy to find witnesses.

Well...I guess I'll make plans not to work for DC if I complete my aspiration to work as a colorist.

Even if making your dreams come true only cost you a sweaty night or two with this man?

DC has been a tyranny for about a decade now, a boys club of a$$holes who scratch each other's backs and have no interest in promoting quality storytelling. Sexually harassing some chick? We got your back, as long as you're toeing the company line. When guys like Chuck Dixon and Mark Waid are pushed out, something is amok.

What is so special about this Berganza guy that they haven't fired him yet? Especially with this documented history of allegations?

He is, at the very least, a PR nightmare for both DC and WB at this point.

Looks like Berganza is out for the moment.

DC Group Editor EDDIE BERGANZA Suspended Following New Allegation Details

Quote:
DC Entertainment has immediately suspended Mr. Berganza and has removed him from performing his duties as Group Editor at DC Comics. There will be a prompt and yet careful review into next steps as it relates to the allegations against him, and the concerns our talent, employees and fans have shared. DC continues to be extremely committed to creating a safe and secure working environment for our employees and everyone involved in the creation of our comic books.

Allegations against Berganza initially became public in April 2016, as reported by Newsarama and others.

Not really. He's just suspended for the moment, probably with pay.
