TMNT/Power Rangers crossover!

I’ve absolutely loved reading these first two issues. The designs of everyone and especially shredder are amazing. I really can’t wait to read issue 3 now

You know, it's funny. I can't ignore the fact that Power Rangers is a bizarre and unecessary attempt to disguise the very Japanese series Super Sentai as an American product (by outsourcing to New Zealand), even in comic book form where it only applies to aesthetics. Power Rangers just inherently weirds me out in that regard.

And the mixing of aesthetic elements when it comes to the TMNT side comes across as weird too. The Turtles have unique designs for this series, Fred Wolf Shredder standing right next to 4Kids Karai, 4Kids Foot symbols inside Fred Wolf Technodrome, Nick Metalhead standing in a corner, April wearing something that makes her resemble the Platinum Dunes version, Fred Wolf B&R showing up after Shredder weirdly starts to have design elements of the 4Kids Shredder, etc. It doesn't really feel like the art direction was very well thought out, it comes across like artist was using a bunch of TMNT toys from various eras as model sheets.

I did not catch it on the first read, but the camera man was Vernon, but he is supposed to look like Will Arnett.

Also, the banter between Raphael and Trini revealed The Rat King by name is a reoccurring threat the Turtles fight off. I really would like to see a few panels of that because I gather it would be like The Rat King as I know him best in the 1987 cartoon. In the same conversation it is mentioned that rock soldiers from Dimension X are another threat the Turtles face. Shredder references allies in Dimension X. Perhaps Shredder and Krang are not a team, but lose allies of sorts.

I am really hoping now after seeing shredder we get the mighty Morphin Ninja turtles, and the teenage mutant power rangers for at least one issue seeing the rangers as mutant dino plus saber tooth tiger and a mastodon and ninja turtles in ranger suits would just make me love this story.

Haha, yeah, it's impressive how quickly that design has made its way into both fan art and cosplay. We haven't even seen the character do anything more than pose dynamically!

I meant she was sub servant to him. However, didn't she grovel at his feet in the first scene with Lord Zedd? I thought the reason he disposed of her was her constant defeats at the hands of the Power Rangers believing her to be incompetent? I guess its easier to see Shredder as being built up to be formidable as well as Zedd, but not Rita.

Add one Casey Jones to the characters with Fred Wolf influence in their design. (Only less muscley with an added hood.)

Also figured the tease on the last page was gonna happen when they kept talking about "the cool thing you can think of doing" in the interviews and solicits. Looking forward to seeing how they look!

I don't know. Casey here seems to be more in line of IDW's casey, or an aged up version of Nick's Casey.

Yeah, there's nothing specifically FW about him. Anything that is similar has been on other (Mirage, movie) incarnations.

I think it's mostly the red straps on the mask combined with the light blue shirt and the single shoulder pad that gave me that inclination. (The latter of which the Nick Casey also has, but it's more the combined effect.)

This series has wonderful coloring and illustration, but I'll be more than happy if I never read another panel involving TMNT x Pizza x joke toppings again.

You'd think that the Turtles would take the powers of who they'd been spending time with (Leo/Jason, Mike/Zack, Don/Billy, Raph/Trini). April's the only one who got her corresponding Ranger's powers....

Yeah, I certainly thought they were setting up a Donatello/Blue Ranger, Leonardo/Red Ranger pairing at least.
