Just purchased 3 new Switch games: Minecraft, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker and Go Vacation.

I started playing Captain Toad and Go Vacation. I also played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and got all the gold 2 stars on 200cc.

I played through Kholat, an adventure/horror game. It was atmospheric enough to keep me going.

I’ve been playing Horizon Zero Dawn. Based on the reviews and the buzz surrounding the game when it was released I was expecting the second coming. I have to wonder whether any of the reviewers actually played the game. I’m not saying it’s a bad game, but it’s not that great either.

It has a cack-handed and overly complicated control scheme that doesn’t get any less frustrating after playing the game for a month (there is a special place in hell for developers who use R3 as the sprint button). Inventory management is overwhelming at first and becomes tedious when you get the hang of it. The skill tree is pretty straightforward but annoyingly, the game doesn’t auto save after you add a new skill, so if you die afterwards, you have to do it again. The combat is simplistic but it’s also frustrating as it’s one of those games where once you attack, you have to wait for the animation to finish before you can dodge or redirect further attacks.

Some enemy attacks create absurd amounts of splash damage, to the point that there is nothing you can do to avoid taking a hit, which would be OK if the enemies weren’t flying too high for you to see them in the game’s tiny field of view, and if you didn’t have to hit R3 to sprint every time you lost momentum, and if the health kit button wasn’t up on the frigging d-pad, making it awkward to reach.

The plot is OK. It’s a cool idea, if not a bit half-assed and derivative. The acting is passable, and the cut-scenes are not too intrusive, even if they are mega-boring and stiff.

Having said all that, I am having fun playing Horizon Zero Dawn and I do think it’s a good game, but the review copies must have been laced with ecstasy or something because this thing sounded like a masterpiece, and the game I’m playing is a B- at best.

I've spent like...a week playing Stardew Valley...finally got my character married to Penny. I was going for Elliot, but I guess I wanted to get Penny out of that trailer more.

Also she was easier to give gifts to.

Leah was another possibility, and so was Robin until I realized she was already married and had two kids. Guess I have a thing for redheads on that game

You're in for a treat. One of the greatest games of all time. Hope you love AlttP as much as I do.

About a month ago, I decided to actually play my copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy after getting it ten years ago. I already played through Metroid Prime and finished it, and finished Metroid Prime 2: Echoes today. So I'll be playing Metroid Prime 3: Corruption next.

After all of this, I might even just finally start over on Metroid: Other M and actually finish it.

Thanks. I am enjoying it but I got a little lost and I’m not sure where I’m supposed to go. I’ll probably watch a YouTube video or something to guide me through it.

My best friends all pitched in & got me a Switch + some games & accessories for my birthday, late November. Got another two games from one of them for Christmas. I'm very lucky to have such kind & generous people in my life.

So far I own the following:

-Nintendo Switch with red & blue Joy-cons
-Super Mario themed metal base for the console which allows you to charge the Switch independently of the dock while playing
-Pro Controller that charges the Joy-Cons while you use it
-Super Mario Odyssey (Beaten, with plenty of "post-game" content to enjoy yet.)
-Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Had the Wii-U version, adored it, glad to have this too for the sake of us all playing online well into the future... though I so badly wish it had more tracks!)
-Kirby Star Allies (Haven't tackled this yet, but looking forward to doing so.)
-Super Smash Bros Ultimate (It's the business.)
-Megaman 11 (Just beat it last night, easily my favorite in the series!)
[e-shop digital games]
-The Messenger (SO dope!)
-The Mummy Demastered (Only played a little but digging it so far.)
-Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap (Gorgeous but frustrating.)
-Metal Slug 5 (Yet to play, but I love this series.)
-The Way (Yet to play, looked good & was on sale for $0.99 from $14.99!)
-NES Classics provided to online subscribers (A real joy to have.)

Ace Combat 77777777777777. I've always loved these games. The aerial combat is very intense and pulse pounding.

I've been playing...so much Stardew Valley.

I'm finally playing some modded games...and now I want to do my own customized sprites and I don't know how.

(replacing Junimos with Utroms of course)

Resident Evil 2 remake is fantastic. Go buy it, because I want a similar remake of Nemesis.

Now that I've finished all three Metroid Prime games on the Metroid Prime Trilogy disc, I'm picking up from where I left off on Metroid: Other M. I now understand the criticism against the game. One thing that bugs me is how I go up against tough enemies that I wouldn't have been able to build up a substantial amount of energy to fight. Also, during some battles, it's a pain switching back and forth in between the side-scrolling view and the first-person view.
