Should The Next Mutation villains return in Rise?
The Next Mutation didn't feature any returning villains besides Shredder being the b-plot of two episodes. The good news about that is that we had an entirely new rogues gallery. I've written about the villains many times here and also in dozens of threads here in the drome if you aren't familiar with them.
Rise seems to want to focus on original villains which is great, but TNM villains are as obscure as you can get, not touched by anyone, even Archie, obscure 1987 villains got to return and not TNM ones. Many of them have plenty of potential to be used and this seems like the perfect show to showcase them in as it'd be basically something new. |

No.
I seen very little of NM and it’s a turnoff completely. |

Sure. I want to see them somewhere. IDW, ideally, but this would work fine.

Nah, I say let anything about TNM remain obscure. Besides, they're not very good characters in the first place.

I could see Dr. Quease working for The Baron.

There were some very cool designs on the Next Mutation rogues gallery. Debuting them as men in rubber suits wasn't always the most flattering light, of course.

I'd be open to seeing this. Gotta agree with Powder though, I'd love to see what IDW could do with them.

We kind of already have a big bad villain who will might be recurring till defeated. I think Shredder will come in season two as the next one as hinted at.

Bonesteel I always liked.
Dr Quease too, but then I was always wondering why it wasn't just Baxter Stockman. Never cared for Silver. Vam-Mi wasn't anything especially interesting but there's always room for vampires in TMNT. Dragon Lord and The Rank could definitely work. There's alot to play with there with different realms, magic and sorcery, etc... it'd fit right in with Rise. |

If you have seen very little of TNM then maybe you don't know much about it. TNM can still be a huge turn off, but some of the ideas are cool enough to be revisited and used properly.

Dr. Quease is a Baxter replacement but since this show shouldn't re-use established characters then we could get Quease. What separates Quease from Baxter is that he isn't evil, he just puts science a top everything else without questioning the morality of things. Silver is already works perfect since you already have random mutants going around in this town with normal jobs. Have him be a gangster, TMNT can never have enough gangsters. Don't care for Vam-mi either. Dragonlord could be done very well if handled correctly and yes the magical aspect is already set up here. |

Sure, why not? Maybe also some of the obscure toy characters could show up? I especially think Vam Mi would be a good idea.

Honestly, having watched all of NT: NM very recently "for the sake of saying I've seen it", it was gruelling to sit through. If we HAD to take anything at all, I'd go with a loose concept of the Dragon Lord and the magical stuff, but outside of that, everything else was utterly atrocious. (YES, I've watched it all. YES, I have scrutinised every detail, even rewinding when I wanted to double check something/spot errors/check continuity. It was awful.)

Yes, also this all the way! I mean what other TMNT cartoon could get away with characters like Sergeant Bananas, Doctor El, Panda Khan, Halfcourt or Monty Moose? Spoiler:

Wow, I had to google a lot of those, now that's obscure but most definitely! That makes them prime candidates.

Should they? Hmm I don't know what anyone should be doing when it comes to things like this. Would I like to see the Ninja Turtles Next Mutation villain used in new properties. Sure I would. Even if I think that Next Mutation was kind of dopey. I never had a problem with the villains. With good presentation and ideas, they can be just as good as any villain.

Hell no, the writers can't even write established characters like the Turtles or Splinter right and you want them to pick the likes of Quease and Silver?
Let some people that actually know how to write have a go instead, like the folks at IDW...

Sure they did, and look how that one turned out... When you can't even make good characters work out what chances do you have to make bad ones do?
That being said I did like the Bayturtles personality wise, but I believe that's more on the actors themselves then the writers though so my point still stands...
