They already did start fresh, twice. We had First Class and now they just cast new young Scott, Jean, Storm, Nightcrawler, etc. There's no reason to recast again so soon.

They're not barred to the old continuity anymore either, which is why they're doing the Jean Grey pheonix storyline in the 90's rather than the early 2000's like in X3.

Most people on Twitter are sick of the Fox-Men and don't want kinsberg to direct

Kinberg wrote X3, DOFP, Apocalypse and the new F4. Why would anyone want him to write another Dark Phoenix movie let alone direct it?

I wouldn't consider First Class a fresh start, especially with it leading into DOFP and Apocalypse. Kinsberg and Jackman have been along for the whole ride as well, and the "new" trilogy tied into the previous one heavily.

Sure, they just recast for Apocalypse, but that movie didn't do so hot anyways.
This is a great chance for them to focus on Deadpool and New Mutants. Gives them a chance to prepare a proper X-Men film with a new cast. It could build off Deadpool and New Mutants.

So Deadpool 2 brings in Drew Goddard to help with the script and X-Force is being written (and possibly directed) by Joe Carnahan. Why can't Fox hire people like that to work on the X-Men movies? They can't really think Kinberg is a comparable talent.

Yeah, whoever said they're just going to change the subtitle to "PHOENIX" at some point was probably dead on (to thunderous applause, I'm sure they're hoping... bah). Maybe this summer at Comicon.

Pretty sure I said it, but too lazy to go back and check.

Still, I'll take the thunderous applause.

Yay! Fox will be 2 for 2 for terrible Phoenix depictions!

Oh, I meant when Fox would be expecting the thunderous applause when they announce the REAL title, "PHOENIX." I hope they get the sound of crickets instead, those f*ckers.

Fox will be hugely applauded, with everyone who enjoyed Apocalypse applauding their choice to retell the Phoenix saga, with NO CLUE that they're obviously going to produce another terrible mainstream Fox-Men movie written by Simon Kinberg and made by Bryan Singer.

Yay!

We'll get confirmation of appearances by Lawrence, Fassbender, McAvoy, and the guy who does Beast any day now.

Yep, all supposed to be playing 30 years older versions of their characters from First Class in the 90s now.

I can't wait to see when the movie stops for 5 minutes to show Quicksilver doing something "Cool" that's completely disconnected from the rest of the movie. Or when Magneto does the back-stabbing. Maybe Psylocke will show up for a couple more trailer moments, too.

Though I'd prefer they'd just wrap the whole series up with Logan instead of moving forward with another X-Men, I'll still look forward to this.

Hopefully Singer will return but that doesn't look to be the case.

I hope it goes right into pure sci-fi territory with this one.

The non-aging of the X-Men cast in these movies is the Dumbest. Sh!t. Ever.

Also... maybe Storm will get more than two lines of dialogue!

Maybe Magneto will kill off the entire population of Australia but still be forgiven by Charles at the end of the movie!

Maybe Jubilee will be seen in the background of one scene in the Mansion!

Maybe everyone will continue to look up to Jennifer--I mean Katniss--I mean Mystique as a hero!

Hasn't X-men ruined phoenix enough. They didn't do her right in X3 they used it as a Deus Ex Machina in apocalypse.

You can't do Phoenix without the shi'ar empire the StarJammers the emcron crystal and the hellfire club.

Its sad when the 1992 X-men Cartoon came closest with doing the Phoenix saga Justice

Don't worry. They have Simon Kinberg writing (and possibly directing) it. He would never be involved in a poor adaptation of the Dark Phoenix story.

Shocked. Shocked I say!

Only a GENIUS could have predicted this. Probably a really good-looking genius with a sexy beard and a commanding presence.

Will history repeat itself? Will Bryan Singer miss another chance to tell the story of Phoenix?
