20th Anniversary of the publication of first 'Harry Potter' book.

20 years ago today, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone — the British version of the first novel in the Wizarding World Series — was released to book shelves. Fans all over the world are celebrating this historic anniversary. J.K. Rowling also sent a message out to fans:

Quote:
"20 years ago today a world that I had lived in alone was suddenly open to others," she wrote. "It's been wonderful. Thank you."

I actually didn't start reading the books until middle-school, which was right around the time when the first film was released. Once I started them I became hooked and finished the first four books before going to high-school.

Entertainment Weekly did a quiz to figure out what House people belong in. I got Ravenclaw and my personality shows a high degree of work ethic and friendliness, which is valued among members of Ravenclaw. I think this description fits me perfectly. However, I got into the House by a mere 1% and I was almost sorted into Hufflepuff. That wouldn't have been bad though.

There were two tv series, one aired on CITV in the very late nineties and there was a recent reboot on CBBC channel last year

I got Hufflepuff. Seems no matter what quiz I do or anything HP related, I get Hufflepuff. Even the wand I randomly chose at Universal had a Hufflepuff connection.

Did you go to pottermore.com? That's the official site and the only one you should really go by. I got Ravenclaw, boyee.

Can't believe it's been twenty years since this series was created. One of my favorites and always will be.

Agreed. One of my favorite series as well, pretty much only surpassed by Tolkien's works. I definitely need to re-read this series and do another Harry Potter movie marathon

It was a snake all along!

As for me...going full Pottermore profile

Hogwarts: Hufflepuff (twice, since they redid the website)
Ilvermorny: Thunderbird (Quite a bit of yellow going on with me. Gold and black, gold and white...kinda nice, actually)
Wand: Alder wood with a Unicorn hair core 10 ¾" and Slightly Springy flexibility (which seems to suggest adaptability and loyalty?)
Patronus: Black Stallion...??? (I really think my dad and I got mixed up - he got a ragdoll cat, which is more up my alley )

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the book’s release, all eight films along with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be returning to select Cinemark theaters from August 31-September 6.

Isn't there like a million things you could accuse HP of ripping off? I know people have compared HP to X-Men, as both are about a boarding school that enrolls children with special powers. Also racism allegories.
