Yes, probably a reference to jujutsu.

I know this series is trying to instill a lot of Season 5 of the TMNT 2k3 into this. But I got some serious Ronin Warriors flashbacks with this whole plot about the Shredder.

Not overly suprised though, seeing as how the listings, or at least mine, still after many months list Origami Tsunami as Original Tsunami.
That might be alright!

I dug this episode, wish I had more time out of life to comment every now and then. Still not my favorite version of the TMNT but every now and then I find an episode I like.

Man, that subway retreat has to be my favorite part of the whole show thus far... I wish I had that in GIF form. This was such a good episode.

YES! Loved that as well. As soon as they started mockingly laughing, I knew they were about to get their asses kicked.

Right? April seems too comfortable/aware/competent in this series... Even the first episode portrayed her this way. I wonder when/if we'll get some backstory on her?

Reminds me of Tiger Claw not recognizing Casey upon their second encounter in the 2012 show.

Yes his name is Hamato Yoshi. There is no Japan nane Lou Jitsu. It is his nickname he was using when he was working on the movies.

ALL RIGHT, now THAT'S what I'm talking about !

This is exactly what I had hoped Rise would be, and it was great.

I must say, this episode was really good and is definitely my favorite episode.

This was pretty much a turning point for Splinter as a character. I'm eager to see what kind of training he's going to teach his sons. We're likely to see some new type of gags as well. I enjoyed the fight between Splinter and his sons as he sees, criticizes, and looks disgusted with how sloppy and incompetent they've become without proper training. I'm surprised he also didn't ground them for being so bad at fighting. His training with them is going to make the action more interesting.

I had a feeling Shredder was going to be a resurrected soul from years ago, with this series' mystic themes and all. Very Ninja Tribunal but I like it.

The foot were pretty hilarious. Including the Lieutenant and Brute's fanboy moment were they find out that Splinter's Lou Jitsu.

The only weak point of this episode was once again, April. At this point, I honestly could care less if she's written out of the show.

Yeah, I admit. I liked this episode. It probably ties with Origami Tsunami as my favorite episode so far.

Why has Amazon totally skipped over Portal Jacked and Sparring Partner? That's odd.

I really like this episode. just the flashback leaves me to think that when Shredder will come back, it will hurt turtles and bring serious in the universe.

So I was rewatching this episode and remember Splinter telling his sons he would explain everything at the end of the episode but is it just me or have they not acknowledged anything since?

I’m pretty sure I recall splinter saying something like ‘this journey begins tomorrow, not tonight because we need sleep.’ It would’ve been nice to see him in the last episode, since it was foot/Draxum driven. Ward and Suriano said Splinter goes through the biggest character arc in season 1, and he was on the right track after shadow of evil. Sad we haven’t seen him since.

Not quite.

"But I will tell you everything. My sons, our destiny begins tomorrow and we are way behind... Now...someone carry me, I can hear my bones rattling!" (edit: Gif pun not intended. lol)

Meanwhile, several eps later and more than two months in the real world...
