Variety was surprised that Emma Watson's performance in this film didn't earn her a Golden Globe nomination.

SNUB: Emma Watson, “Beauty and the Beast”
The “Harry Potter” star has never been nominated for a Golden Globe. Although the Hollywood Foreign Press loves musicals, they didn’t show any affection for Belle.

This snub didn't surprise me all that much. I thought she was good, but I wouldn't call her performance one of the year's best.

They auto-tuned her singing voice to death to the point of it being unrecognisable. Of course that won't win her any award. And that coming from a big Emma Watson fan.

Gutted that Wonder Woman didn't win any award though, screw the Golden Globe.

At the red carpet for the Golden Globes, Emma Watson says that a sequel could potentially happen. We'll see.

Ugh. No.

Go play Hermoine again, Emma. THAT has sequel potential.

Beauty & The Beast 2 and Maleficent 2...

Both sequels I have no strong interest tbh.... Probably gonna flop hard like Alice: Through the Looking Glass.

What would the story of a sequel for Beauty and the Beast gonna be? Another prequel like the enchanted christmas?

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

Hey, does anyone recall the times where not all movies were expected to have sequels and that one film was good enough? >_> Geez, what in the world could they do with either film story wise, especially Maleficent. What could they possibly do to actually make it interesting.

Anyway, that aside, I forgot to mention (I think) that back in November, I went to my coworker's place along with a group of others for like a Thanksgiving/Christmas combo celebration. That particular coworker is a big Disney fan. Every month, seemingly, she finds a way to go to Tokyo Disney here and she's traveled a bit and has been to many Disney parks around the world. Anyway, she rented the live-action Beauty and the Beast, and to my shock, I actually enjoyed it.

There were some things I could've done without, like the Beast's song after Belle leaves oh and Emma Watson's singing (I just didn't care for it), but the film was generally okay. I liked the fact that they did explain one of the plotholes that I never thought much about when watching the original 1991 version...or either I don't remember because I've only seen that one once...when it was in theaters. Why did everyone forget there was a castle in the woods and that there was a prince. That was a very welcomed addition.

My favorite character of the movie was LaFue. He was pretty funny and I remember for the 1991 version, I didn't think much of him, but I did like Gaston for the 1991 one for how absurdly arrogant and cocky he was. I remember laughing at him a lot. Gaston for this film was just evil, man. Tying Maurice to the tree to die...shooting the beast in the back...geez man. I was ready to give him benefit of the doubt like in the original and find him a grey character.

Oh well, so yeah...I liked it okay.

The film turned a profit of $414.7 million. This makes it the second most profitable film of 2017 behind Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

That's great to hear, I personally loved the film so I'm very happy to see that it did very well.

Nostalgia critic released his review of the 2017 Beauty and the Beast:

I love these articles from Deadline and didn't realize they were out for the 2017 movies yet.

Linda Woolverton, who wrote the script for the original movie, wasn't too thrilled with this version. She wasn't fond of what they did with LeFou and she didn't like that Belle and the Beast could magically transport out of the castle, especially since the magic mirror was the Beast's only window to the outside world in the animated film.

Quote:
A few of Woolverton’s misgivings with the “Beauty and the Beast” live-action remake came from changes the company made to the film’s story, which she believed misrepresented the mythology of the original film. The first change Woolverton discusses was to LeFou’s character, specifically, how it was made to seem like he had a crush on Gaston. Woolverton commented, “Was he in love with Gaston? No. He was just a toady and besotted with a person he could never be.”

Another change Woolverton wasn’t thrilled about was the Beast’s ability to come and go from his castle via a magic mirror. “The castle is supposed to be impenetrable, ” Woolverton said on the podcast. “After that, the mythology didn’t work for me.”

Emma Thompson reprised her role as Mrs. Potts last on Saturday Night Live. This version of "the tale as old as time" isn't quite the one we all know. LOL.

Over two years after the film was released, Josh Gad claims that the "gay moment" was all his idea.

A soulless halfassed carbon copy of the animated masterpiece! you can't strike lightning in a bottle twice.

If they wanted to do a different version, why not adapt the story instead of remaking cinematic leftovers from the 90s.

Because thats where all the cold hard cash lies.

I have a soft spot for this remake, its not anywhere close to being as the original, but it's far better than most of the other remakes.

The Disney+ mini-series focusing on Gaston and LeFou will be titled Little Town.

With only select theaters opened around the country, the movie also topped the box-office the other weekend.

Disney made a large chunk of change from this movie. However, some of the profits they made from it along with the ones from Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy due to using stolen technology to market realistic CG characters.
