You do know not everyone has played Pokémon, right? Even I know a person who was never into it.

My brother had a DS but we never had any Pokemon games for it.

I know there's Pikachu and Charizard and Mew and some are rare and some aren't. That's it.

Its just hard to imagine especially for anyone who was a kid or teen when it was around, or even today for that matter. Its literally one of the best selling game franchises of all time, the anime was popular for quite some time, the toys the merch, impossible to avoid.

Pokemon hit the U.S. way back in 1998. From 1998 to 2016 its always been around.

My folks don't know anything about Pokemon either, but they know of it. It's like how even people who don't watch or ever really were into wrestling know who Hulk Hogan is.

I was originally opposed to the idea, but after all the craze around Pokemon Go, they might as well make one.

A group of teenagers are Pokemon Go obsessed and they end up finding realistic looking pokemon. They try to convince the world but are deemed to be mentally ill psychopaths who are far too stimulated by the game. They then a realize a plan by Nintendo to brainwash people into becoming mindless zombies who hallucinate about pokemon and always buy their products.

Its up to our heroes (trapped in the world of our hallucinations) to catch pokemon and use them to break free from Nintendo's corporate trap, in the mean while advertising the hell out of pokemon. They are torn in between leaving their virtual pokemon friends in the world of hallucinations and saving the real human world.

Technically not on topic, but am I the only one who thinks Pokemon Go is widly overrated and doesn't enjoy the game like everyone else? I think its entertaining, but not even close to being a masterpiece, I find the social media craze around it to be annoying on the most part.

It's overhyped for sure. The game is pretty broken but I'm having fun with it for the most part. Catching the same 10 pokemon that populate my area over and over again gets boring.

As soon as Japan finally gets this game, I'll let you know.

The Detective Pikachu game hasn't even been released outside of Japan. Most people have no idea what that game even is.

I still have no idea why this is happening. And even worse, making the movie based on some lackluster spinoff game that hasn't even been released in the U.S.

This is literally like worst case scenario for a live action pokemon movie.

Detective Pikachu? And that director's history of films he directed... yuck.

I smell a flop coming.

Its weird how Nintendo would go into a potential bomb with this, they know how the Super Mario Bros. movie from the 90's flopped.
