It's too bad the prize art isn't going to someone who is an actual fan of Hidetsugu Yoshioka or the TMNT manga.

I'm a little confused on this one.

Donnie DBERG, if you don't mind me asking, what was your question that you submitted? And congratulations on your victory [whether you're a "true fan" or not, I guess. ]

EDIT:
Ah, there it is:

What would be your fourth most memorable villian? Of all your TMNT drawings which one is your favorite?
But come'on, "Mr." Donenberg, you could have at least spelled "villain" properly!

Well, a shame I didn't win, but Yoshioka DID answer my question in Part 2 of the interview, so I don't feel cheated.

As a fan of his work for years, it was fascinating hearing all his experiences. I knew in advance that he was a fan of American comics, but I didn't know how knowledgable he really was.

Also, Moon Knight had his own manga series? Moon Knight.

On behalf of America, Japan, I am very sorry.

Hey, that's great to hear! Which questions did you ask, Mark?

I remember you asked about Yoshioka's influences and his prior experience with TMNT media. It was so funny how he forced Casey Jones into his comic story (even in spite of explicit requests not to!) because he liked Casey's portrayal in the movie so much.

And I'm very surprised he decided to mutate April into her cat-woman form in spite of it not being in Comic Bom Bom's instructions. I figured that angle was an attempt to promote her Mutations action figure (which may have been a Fan Club mail order exclusive in Japan):

Well you care enough to post about the fact that I care enough to post... It's a small world after all.

What an illogical circle jerk.

When did you become such a hipster? You used to be cool.

What, really? Moon Knight? There's only a handful of Marvel characters more boring that they could have possibly gone with :/

In an attempt to get this thread back on track, I thought Ninjinister did a nice Yoshioka inspired custom figure.

I'm also glad that Comic Bom Bom decided to stay closer to the Dengeki Comics storyline (volumes 1 and 3 at least) than the actual OVA episodes. I certainly think the print medium is the superior version of the story.

I think I'd probably give you $10-15 for it.

Even though you can certainly do whatever you want with it, I really hope you don't sell it, Donnie DBERG. Yoshioka has done very, very few TMNT pieces. Most of Yoshioka's American afficianados are probably from the Transformers-fandom. It really is a unique piece of TMNT art considering the source.

See? This is why I griped. Should've went to OMW or Spengs, someone who actually values Yoshiokas work.

Truth be told, I don't really care too much for collecting original artwork. I'd much rather own copies of the Comic Bom Bom issues that feature the Yoshioka TMNT stories.
