Sad... And here he had this successful(?) show and whatnot. You just never can know I guess that something is still bringing someone down to that point.

I've only seen a few episodes of his show but I liked them. He not only showed the cuisine of the country/region he visited but also interacted with the locals and got to know them and let the audience know the local culture as well. His show seemed to be more than a mere food show. He also was charismatic and seemed like a classy person. So yeah, it's a shame he died and even a bigger shame he committed suicide. He had a family even. Who knows what was going on in his head.

He was pretty famous and his death has been reported all over the media, so I assume his show was successful.

Apparently he'd just found out his girlfriend, Asia Argento, was cheating on him the day before he killed himself.

I heard about that forever ago, what dragged this up again?

She also had sex with an underage boy, supposedly, the one who'd played her son in a movie once. But I forget if that's the one that was the last straw for Bourdain or if she was also f*cking someone else.

Only caught a piece of it, but I think it was that "Roadrunner" documentary film that was on a while ago that included people who knew him talking about his mental health issues and that his globe hopping lifestyle may itself have been a part of always trying to run away from life (or something to that effect). So he definitely had issues going on for longer than that, but certainly a cheating partner could be a point that breaks it...

I'm not convinced rich people actually care about that, considering how many of them cheat on their partners, and how often. It's considered part of the lifestyle.

I mean eh, maybe. Could have been *a* factor, I doubt it'd be THE factor. I'm sure he cheated on her a whole bunch, too, in fact I think I'd read somewhere that he was a tomcat.

Guess we'll never know.

Yeah, this is how I see it as well.

As far as I know, based on stuff I've read, and stuff people have told me/admitted in group therapy, it tends to be a culmination of many things that overwhelm someone who's already thought about suicide before. Who knows, though.

She was f***ing someone else. The stuff with the underage boy is later on and completely separate.

Bourdain has admitted himself on TV in the past that he had struggled with depression before. So it's not like he was a very happy person who one day decided to hang himself after receiving some bad news.

On surface level, Bourdain seemed to have a very sweet life. His job made him travel all over the world for free and eat delicious local food and befriend locals. That sound spike a dream job. But OTOH, constantly travelling is tiresome and constantly sleeping in different about 30 different hotels a year for half of your life might get old fast, who knows.

We'll never know what made him take his own life. But clearly being rich and famous and having a job that seemed very fun and enriching isn't an automatic cure for depression and to make you happy.

Esch person finds happiness in their own way. What makes you happy but not make me happy and vice-versa. For some people, Bourdain's life would probably work very well. For others not so much.

What's the problem with the word "actress"? Asia Argento is an actress not an actor as stated in that article twice.

Who knows. Probably it's been determined to be "problematic" to progressives.

The weird thing is, that in the beginning, only the word actor existed. It was used for both sexes. And then actress was created, and now in the last 5-10 years it’s being phased out except for say the name of the Oscar awards.
