Have you discovered disturbing/disgusting things in your food? X(

When I was eleven, I ate a muffin that had a piece of hair in it.

Has anyone else uncovered bizarre things in their food items? Discuss below.

A banana which turned out to have a colony of maggots inside it.

I'm relieved I took a good look at my food that day before taking a bite. I had this gut feeling and the maggots blended in pretty well so It could've ended badly. There were literally hundreds inside that one banana.

However, none of that comes close to the filth seen on Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares" and "Hotel Hell" shows. I never thought some catering businesses could be so disghusting behind the scenes, and those shows made me suspicious of any non-mainstream resturaunts.

Huh.

Your story reminded me of this.

I got a peach at the college food court ones that had a spider's nest in the pit.

I put a wrinkle in my afternoon if I recall.

I think when I was six I bit into an apple that had a (dead?) worm in it. It wasn't my first thought when there was something weird and squishy in my apple (didn't help that I was watching a movie in the dark) so I showed it to my mom.

The WEIRDEST part about this was that I thought the apple had just gone soft on the inside like applesauce (even though I had just read a children's book about the main character making applesauce, thus knew how it would at least be made from scratch).

So of course, I didn't finish that apple.

It's unlikely I'll ever eat McDonald's nuggets again after getting chunks of bone in two different nuggets in the same carton. I wasn't real fond of them to start with, but they were given to me. However, that solidified a feeling of "nope." (Makes me wonder though how common that is and if kids ever end up with it... )

Only other thing really is when we had a bit of infestation of the darn Indian mealmoths (no doubt brought in via pet food) and they enjoyed getting into various food items of ours, prior to learning to seal stuff up tight. When snacking on cereal dry from the box or chips, it's really not appreciated to have already eaten some amount of it before discovering one or more of those damn caterpillars down in the bag. The horror of hoping you didn't eat any is plenty enough to ruin more than a day until the hypothetical chewed up bug would have passed through.

Sorta counts I guess... I think it was sometime last year that a house fly ended up in my glass of water. And thank god I had not drank from it (esp as the room was mostly dark and I wouldn't have noticed) as that is the day I was horrified to learn that some flies don't lay eggs... They lay live maggots. Which apparently came out of this fly when it freaked out by being in the water. (Oh yeah, thanks a lot!) Of course, me, being the nice human I am, heard it and fished the live fly from my glass, intending on tossing it outside... and on the way to the door started to freak because my hand did not just feel wet, but...crawly. (OH $&*%#! NO!) I didn't even look at my hand, didn't want to know or see what I suspected, I just threw the fly outside and quickly ran and washed my hands. Then asked Google afterwards...

ALWAYS LOOK IN YOUR GLASS.

I've had worms in apples and mealworms in flour before. Was a long time ago. Found a roach scurrying out of a puzza box not too long ago. Was not happy....

There was a recall of veggies today.

http://time.com/4992997/meijer-food-recall-listeria/

It makes me worried about what I eat.

Nothing really special, just strain of hair. And once I bit on a buckshot pellet when I was eating moose, that really hurt my whole jaw as I bit really hard on it.
