making your own video game...

so, I have my models. I can easily remake the missing ones and the backgrounds.

the only problem is, how do I all program it easily so it's as playable as turtles in time? I'd like to try and do a better update than re shelled.

That was a childhood dream, making my own TMNT beat'em up. I wish i knew. There was a demo a while back on Youtube even posted here, but the user was banned. Oldmanwinters might have an idea?

Please do proceed with the SNES port villains, why a cement monster instead of Slash? Not to mention Rat King! The best of the villains imho! Maybe Dhrome Dome instead of Metal Head? There is the sprite from the SNES Tournament Fighter!

There's unfortunately no easy out for this. Even if you use a more-or-less ready-to-go engine like OpenBOR, it's gonna take a lot of time and effort.

I think converting your models for game usage could be a lot of fun, although it's a big step from just using models to actually make a game fun to play.

For what you're trying to do, I recommend contacting this guy (Oscar Torres, I think is the name), and seeing if you can pick up any tips:

https://www.instagram.com/_retrostation/?hl=en
http://oscartorres9.wixsite.com/oscartorres-3d

As you can see, he's trying to redo the original TMNT arcade game using models heavily inspired by the 1990 film.

My dream is to find a large group of people willing to work on passion project to create essentially a version of Arkham Turtles. I have tons of ideas. Massive open world, stealth mechanics, the ability to use manhole covers and go into the sewers or jump up to run across the rooftops etc.

Sadly, I have no coding ability.

I could however, record much of the soundtrack.

If you're gonna work in 3D, the UT3 editor is very versatile and got loads of tutorials.

Maybe you should have tried your hand at being a gigolo?

Most people aren't given a map at birth, my boy.

An amateur without computer programming background is not going to make a game that runs better than TiT Reshelled as "bad"as it may've been. You can do it for fun as a hobby. I mean I liked your TMNT CG re-creations of episodes a lot for what they were but even those were rough and that's nothing compared to what you want to do.

I'm learning some programming on my own for fun, I'm in no rush since it's just for me but I'd like to eventually do some NES programming and see if I could make some simple games. Or if I can do some rom hacking then make another NES TMNT game. These would be passion projects and not meant to be amazing though.

it wouldn't be meant to be up for video game of the year award.

just something fun to do to pass the time. the characters and backgrounds would at least look passable. how long could it take to simply make the character go up, down, left right and swing and jump? not worried about phsyics or anything. just simple test movements to see how it'd look if someone with real skill where to do something with them.

There's an NES Maker tool in the works for assistance on that!

I don't know about MersoX's educational background, but I can guarantee you that Rescue Palooza is gonna be far better than TiT Reshelled once it's publically released.

and re shelled would not have been so bad if they had just worked the physics out a little better.

and gotten the original voices back. although the 2k3 ones where a nice touch. it's a shame, RS had alot going for it for a good remake.

I maintain to this day that the only thing bad about Re-Shelled was the music.

Well I never played Reshelled, the videos looked fine, hopefully one day I'll get to thanks to piracy.

Awesome, I haven't looked at any resources available but I'm glad they exist to make it easier. It's not something I intend on doing anytime soon but something I'd like to do eventually in a few years.

May be best to team up with someone who understands how game engines work. Or see if there is any way you can take a class on it?

Reshelled needed reworking from the ground up. The collision detection and flow of attacking was terrible.
