Or Disney will just straight up own the US government. Either way works.

Ideally, yes, but... I'm guessing you don't live in the US.

Would be funnier if not for the fact they have indeed done exactly that before.

Granted, "different time and place" and all of that, but there's still precedent.

We're supposed to get Superman and Batman and other big ones like that entering the public domain in about a decade but there's no way Warner Bros. is going to let that happen.

I'm predicting that sometime before 2080, Disney is going to end up owning TMNT after buying out and absorbing Viacom.
Sophie is correct in that Disney had a master plan in the 80s / 90s in order to avoid several properties going into public domain. Disney started a project to take several of their IPs and make whole new shows for them in order to renew their copy rights on those characters. The shows included: Talespin, Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Goof Troop, Bonkers, and Quack Pack. These new shows in effect renewed the copy rights for another term. That was something I learned while working with Phil Young at Savannah College of Art and Design lol

> Darkwing Duck

> Bonkers

What copyrights were those two shows trying to salvage exactly? Darkwing and Bonkers are original properties. Launchpad was from Duck Tales originally, though he was an original creation from there.

Those two shows may have been original properties but their purpose was to salvage IPs already endangered of going into the public domain. You can see just from a quick search of Bonkers characters,

that shows several of those characters are from older mickey mouse cartoons (especially clarabell cow, horace horsecollar, ludwig von drake, etc) and the same can be said about Darkwing duck. The shows may be original but they renewed copyrights on several older properties in the process, thus giving them 80+ years or whatever the current copyright extension is. It was a pretty smart move on their part.

Only the best come from SCAD Sophie lol nice to see more Bees out there!

More new art from the Annual, via Tom Waltz's Twitter:

Spoiler:

I look at that and wonder... Could the whole point of the Armageddon Game be the Rat King eliminating his direct competitors in the Pantheon's eternal power play? Two of them (Aka and Chi-You) are gone, removed from the board, and a third (Kitsune) has settled down in her ambitions for the moment. Maybe RK is looking to take out the others via his various unwilling proxies? It would certainly be the right kind of monologue to go with such a panel.

I think it's possibly a flashback as Ratty looks kinda younger in that seated pic.

This is what I want to see in the ongoing instead of battle of the bands in Furry Town.

I'm glad Tom found something else to share. He was going ham on The Last Ronin. He even posted some images and took them down the same day, so I'm wondering if someone asked him to slow down.
Should have just shared them here, Tom!
