Crap. Well, my local comic shop owner who reads Nightwing as well suggested to skip it even if it finishes the story. We know Dick will help Jon overcome Luthor and understand that he cannot prevent all casualties.
Also, that gay kiss was unnecessary and it felt like it was there just to irritate us. Didn't know who any of the Son of Superman characters were, but I don't care. I appreciate the meta casual clothes showing up again. It is also notable that Barbara is referring to Haley as 'their' dog's instead of Dick's dog. The stuff contained to Nightwing itself was good, but I did not appreciate the stuff leaking in.

Yeah, it's weird how Babs is located elsewhere in the Batgirls book, yet is essentially co-habiting and starting a 'family' with Dick in Nightwing.

It's also weird that we get the vibes of both books within the pages of Nightwing#89. It tells me that I don't want to read Son of Superman. I wonder if connecting it Nightwing will actually help it with sales if people like my LCS owner telling me to skip it.It is so weird that it's the same writer! I mean my shop owner pointed me to the Justice League/Power Rangers comic I initially overlooked telling me its yet again Tom Taylor but it is good. A writer can have one title that he/she writes poorly consistently but not effect other works. Nightwing 89 seems to prove that. I guess Harvey Dent writes most of the time, but Two Face writes Son of Superman with an agenda.

Joshua Williamson interview I wonder what kind of Spider-Man writer he'd be? According to him, he grew up in the era of Peter and MJ's marriage.

Before the pandemic I never heard of either Tom Taylor or Joshua Williamson. Now their names are everywhere.

There are a few reasons
1. is the Comic Book Distribution has been screwed because of Covid 2. Paper Shortages. 3. The Artist Joe Quinones had Covid so they delayed it Its one of these 3 or all 3 combined

Titans Academy was an absolute joke this week, they reveal Red X was academy member Brick, who reveals to Dick he's their son, then another unidentified Rex X turns up revealing he manipulated Brick, then kills him and escapes. Brick isn't Dick's son after all.

Hopefully DC can find success without Bat titles and enforced unwanted diversity. DC is in bad shape. What are you all getting out of the back issue bin?

Daredevil's Chip Zdarksy and Jorge Jimenez are the new creative team on Batman. Looks like Tim Drake is getting focus again

I never heard of this Williamson before, but suddenly he is all over the place. Same with Tom Taylor, I am still trying to wrap my head around how he can be spitting liberal propaganda in Son of Superman while taking a conservative and fun approach with Nightwing, its hard to believe its the same person. Zdarksky, was JLA:The Last Ride and also Spider-Man:Life Story, right? I don't really look at creators names but look for appeal of the story and characters involved. However, Zdarksky's name stands out. I guess these three guys are the big pushers of the 2020s'?

Yes, both incredible reads. He's probably Marvel's best writer at the moment.

I keep hearing how Wally West is now the feature of The Flash title and how its a solid read, but no one is reading it because they are fearful of his portrayal after Heroes in Crisis. This is his chance and fans need to support the thing thry actually want. So I bought #770-#779 from my LCS today.

Grant Morrison reveals the plan for Clark in the aborted 5G launch was to be split into Superman Red/Superman Blue, only they would represent the political divide of lefts vs right, with Jon and Damien siding with the alt right.

We know now what we already knew just without official release that Tim Fox is Batman, Jon Kent is Superman, Yara Flor is Wonder Woman, Black Manta's son is Aquaman, and Far Sector is Green Lantern.
I can't even remember all their names they are so unimportant! So Hal Jordan is not a part of the current Justice League, but John Stewart is. Hal seems to be the survivor of the founding seven because Barry is M.I.A in the dark multiverse. That would be likely why the 'survivor' of the fight against the dark army is relating the event to Hal Jordan. Even with that narrative it would seem that Hal would rally others to lead the League on a rescue mission or depending on what they know a mission to stop the army. That would suggest that it would be the original sidekick generation, Dick, Wally, Donna, Garth, Roy and Kara and Barbara that should be called upon. One problem that DC has is it has three generations of sidekicks Dick, Tim, Damien for example. You cannot keep adding new generations when succession is already in place and don't want time to progress for the generation primarily focused on(Bruce/Clark.Dian,etc.). Leave the legacy alone it's already in place and then some and start anew on another hero.

Leo Roxx, I know you are lurking. If you are are interested in reading DC in 2022, there are a pair of comics that you might want to look at. You never know how long it will last, but while its out there you might want to peak at it. Mark Waid's World's Finest title that appears to focus on Silver/Bronze Age look and feel hits stands next week. Also, Wally West as the featured Flash started in #768. There is a few DC bright spots surprisingly and I thought these two you might be interested in. I am also pulling Nightwing though when Justice League cancels with #75 I will not continue.
https://bleedingcool.com/comics/batm...-ecoterrorist/ World's Finest has the correct look for the characters, Poison Ivy is Caucasian not green and Dick Grayson is in the Robin suit. Pre-crisis Supergirl will team up with him in the third issue(something that never was done and I wanted to see). We need a good ole hero vs villain classic look and feel no diverse agenda or intertwining between books. Hopefully it will serve what I need.

Today was Bendis' last issue of Justice League, with Joshua Williamson writing the final issue next month that leads into Dark Crisis and takes the League off the table for now.
Also today was Mark Waid's first regular DC title in years, World's Finest, with Batman and Superman, taking place in the past long before Jon and the Super-marriage was a thing. It's pretty fun all things considered, though it's more a Batman, Robin and Doom Patrol story, with Superman transformed into a bit of an obstacle for them to overcome after he's infected with something that causes him to spiral out of control and go rampaging across Metropolis. |
