Didn't Joker kill Mr. Freeze in that story? That didn't take.

Love how Black Mask just watched that and was like 'oh. Well... Anyways..."

Yeah, but the popularity of the Batman: TAS episode was unforeseen. Once that aired, they brought Freeze back in a hurry. That was the original intention though, yes, since Freeze was a total C-lister at that specific moment in time. They figured he was expendable. Although it's not totally unreasonable that he could have been "spatula'd" off the floor and tossed in a freezer, or something. He looked dead, and they said he was "iced", but... eh, none of them goobers was licensed to declare anyone legally dead, so f*ck do they know?

I am aware that Mr. Freeze was originally a one-shot villain named Mr. Zero, cured in the same story, but it being reprinted in Batman#176 got him adapted into the then in development television series. However, I never thought he was Killer Moth level at any point.

He wasn't doing a whole lot by 1991 or whenever "Robin II: Joker's Wild" was. That's specifically why they had him in that scene where Joker "killed" him. The fact that HE of all people would try and take Joker's spot as Top Bad Guy in Gotham was... pretty laughable, at that particular point in time. Even seeing him at all made a lot of people do a double-take, since he'd been a non-factor for quite a while. Thus why he was chosen to be "killed off" in that scene; they figured nobody would miss him, or care.

The cartoon changed all that, so good for them. 1991 Mr. Freeze, however, was a long way from his glory days, either Before or After.

The funny thing is that he was one of only two Bat Rouges who took the power up from Neron. The other was Spellbinder's replacement. Neither stuck. It's as odd as seeing Otto Preminger as Mr. Freeze kidnapped Miss Iceland to deep freeze her and turn her into his sub zero spouse. Mr. Freeze would not want to project ice, but a cure for his wife. Of all of the events that DC has pulled Underworld Unleashed has to be the quickest to be washed away and have no true impact.

I have not read the Robin mini-series since I am not interested in Tim Drake, but the role you describe screams Killer Moth.

I ordered the first issue. It was solid, but it felt like that neo-cliche Batman who uses someone else to manipulate a victory (i.e. the Metal Men), which used to be a marker of a singularly good Batman story but has now become a cliche.

I probably would've kept ordering it, but nowadays if I even sense something crummy in a title I just drop it. It's probably a solid book, but with comics priced as boutique magazines nowadays I have little reader-tolerance.

Instead I've been buying a lot of Silver Age Green Lantern stuff lately.

I finished my best of Flash volume two and best of Legends of the Dark Knight collection and now I am filling out Silver Age Batman.

Do you have a run of Green Lantern volume two?

Yeah, I mean this is the same writer who had Batman make plans to take down each member of the super hero community. Its fun, its serialized, it's the classic look. It's Iike taking the iconic characters and updating it for 2022.

Spoiler:
Deathstroke shots Changeling point blank in the head as a warning to the hero community to kick off Dark Crisis. More importantly I am lead to believe my characters Dick Grayson, Wally West, and Hal Jordan should make it through and be featured.

I was thinking about the event on a basic level and it exposes that the character base that DC has is pretty thin, remove the Justice League and you have Robin/Nightwing leader of the next generation, Kid Flash/Flash the successful torchbearer, and the most known Green Lantern Hal Jordan, representing the surviving founder. Then you have lesser known Bat allies, multiple Green Lanterns not named Hal Jordan, Firestorm, Supergirl, Captain Marvel, Cyborg and that is it as far recognizability. Other than that multiple Blue Beetles. Also, where is the actual Hawkman? Last I remember he was zombified in Synder's run of the Justice League that just wrapped up.

Also, the villain is actual darkness that can possess people? It looks like the dark side of the force come alive as Venom symbiote goo.

Ah man, that's a bummer. Not a huge fan of his style, personally, but I know a lot of people are and he definitely made a huge impact on the industry. Shame.

I was hoping to get his autograph on the Long Halloween Special that came out this past Halloween. While I find his style unique and it's not my taste he is a co-plotter on Loeb's partnerships and I LOVE The Long Halloween, Dark Victory, and Spider-Man: Blue.

The second arc of Batman/Superman: World's Finest by Mark Waid introduces a failed sidekick of Superman, Boy Thunder and it is said to tie into Zero Hour. Pulling a Triumph?

So Waid had Superman and Batman pull off a Super Sayian Fusion.

It looks like this Nezha villain will appear for a second story by Waid, but as the villain of Batman vs Robin referring to Damian Wayne in the mini-series this September.

Loving Waid's book so far. Only DC title I'm following, and I'll be sure to pick up Batman vs Damien.

So Bat/Cat concludes. Selina argued with Helena, Helena threw a tantrum. Selina buggered off and took a vacation where we learn Andrea's murder was faked by Clayface and she's alive. In flashback, we see Bruce and Selina get married. The end. WTF was the point of any of this.
