I like Ron Howard, but isn't the movie basically done at this point?
what more can he do other than reshoot maybe 40% of it to make it a bit less cartoony? |

All the voice overs.
All of them.

I'm sure there will be massive amount of reshoots.

He has to reshoot enough of the movie to justify his own credit being on it. Think Richard Lester on Superman II when they booted Donner.

in other words, one giant mess. to me, it seems pretty strange that things would get this far along in the process, TWICE and have directors be fired. is no one keeping an eye on things? http://mashable.com/2017/06/22/han-s.../#4J2TUtEaQkqJ Last edited by Vegita-San; 06-22-2017 at 08:54 PM. |

Ron does big budget films but if there is an artistic angle to the project. This is straight up big budget franchise film which is new territory for him. Sure there is the Da Vinci Code series, but that is not Star Wars/Super Hero level. That is great though to see him given a responsibility.

It's pretty sad to see that Star Wars is now lumped in with capesh*t.

I agree he is. I was just stating he has not attempted them beyond The Da Vinci Code series. As for Willow, I never have heard of it. I think you mean he is familiar with LucasFilms opposed to helming x number of big budget blockbusters. I may not have known of directing for LucasFilms before but I do know he has worked for George Lucas himself in American Graffiti as its lead actor. If my signature does not suggest I do indeed think he is capable. I was surprised the biggest he had ever pursued was The Grinch and Da Vinci Code.

There's even more problems, Lucasfilm reportedly not happy with Alden Ehrenreich's performance as Han Solo.

should have been just as unhappy about kylo rens performance as a villain ;o)
i'd be shocked if this whole production even gets off the ground. if Kathleen kennedy and her crew can't make even a simple idea like a han solo movie work, there is no hope for this franchise. |

I was hoping we could get a nice Yoda feature. Rogue One was unique and it worked. This is different however. Its too late to change young Han actors.

How is it? Even Rogue One had to be creatively fiddled with to make it work

I don't understand why this even happened. Everyone knew from the start fans would not accept anyone other than Harrison Ford as Han Solo. Once you start recasting the classic actors, where does it stop? Might as well cast a new "young" Luke or Leia too.

ahh, but according to alleged disney plants on other boards, everything is hunkey dorey, as it is with just about every film coming out of hollywood these days, apparently ;o)..
I wonder if the same 'fire the directors' pattern goes on for episode 9, if KK will stay on as head of LF, or if disney will finally can their yes person. |

It's still a very nascent and very expensive technology, but that "make dead actors reappear" stuff in Rogue One is probably going to eventually take care of the young Luke/Leia problem. Now ideally Disney wouldn't waste time with the OT anymore, at all, but we all know that won't happen.
