Here's how it'll happen, roughly (I'm betting): everyone will be laid out like in the comics, Negan will eenie, meeny, miny moe it... and choose GLENN. Cue the audience going, "Whoa, just like in the comics!" But then Daryl steps forward, feels bad because Glenn is a father to be, roars at Negan that he should pick him instead, that he's the guy that bazookaed his men in their first encounter. Negan agrees... and Daryl gets batted to death.
I get your point on Glenn but they just did the Daryl death fakeout at the end of the last episode. I hope it is Daryl though. I've always hated him.

AMC better not do that rumored first person camera shot to end the season with the audience not knowing who got Lucille'd.

I can't say I've hated him... but I'm puzzled at why so many people love him. He's one, maybe two dimensional. And has had literally no arc for so long. His first thing was, "Can I be my own man apart from my brother?" Which was flimsy. But ultimately resolved, and then his brother died so it became a non-issue. Then it was, kind of, "Can I adapt to work with others?" He did. Many seasons ago. That's done. They played with him flirting with Carol and it went nowhere, and then Beth, who died... and that's it. There's been no growth or arc since.

I was very, very worried about that until recent stuff popped up that does pretty clearly paint a picture that a pivotal character will be dying on the season ender.

While Daryl is definitely my pick... with the words "groundbreaking" and such being thrown around by the cast and crew about it... I'm actually starting to wonder if Rick himself is going to get killed.

Which on the surface would be weird... but if the rest of the show becomes about, like, Morgan coming around and taking his place, learning to get his hands dirty, etc.... that could be compelling television.

You really think AMC is going to have a man beat a woman to death with a bat?

why discriminate among the sexes?

no, i don't believe they ever would. i just thought the idea was pretty funny!

especially with how overly PC i truly think that show has become!

personally i'd rather see the shows writers get beaten with bats!

Though Daryl is likely, I reckon it will more likely be Glenn. IMO Daryl dying by Lucille won't make as much of an impact as it would Glenn, nor be as heartbreaking.

Since Daryl wasn't in the original comic, the biggest kill ever from that source material wouldn't be as effective. Still, I don't fancy Mr Dixon's chances of survival at all. Maybe they as Rick's top 2 wingmen they will both end up gone.

This iconic scene from the comics certainly won't involve a more minor player.

It's a cliffhanger. Sorry to break it to you guys, but they're going to have a POV shot of the victim, and then have Negan kill that person, and not reveal who it is until Season 7, Episode 1.

A lot of the appeal is how attractive a lot of women find him, I think. Nothing wrong with that at all, most shows have a character like that, but I've always found him pretty thin as character otherwise. He's the "cool, quiet badass" and that's about it -- you're right, character-arc-wise he ran his course a long time ago. Though it can be entertaining watching him interact with people (Denise most recently, and the borderline "Dukes of Hazzard"-y episode with Rick not long ago) he's not really that compelling on his own.

As for the Negan/Lucille thing... I'm fully expecting them to do the comic verbatim, but hoping they don't. Considering the amount of incredibly aggressive teasing they've done with Glenn this season, I feel like it's gonna be super clunky if they don't throw a swerve in there. Then again, this show's not exactly a stranger to some clunky writing.

Cliffhanger maybe, but a mystery death is no way workable. The producers won't be able to keep that under wraps for the next 7 months let alone have some material to make a season 7 trailer from.

if this series is good at one thing, it's setting up a person or destination that the group needs to get to and then leave it at a cliffhanger.

they did that with the prison, they did it with terminus, finding beth, and now they've dragged out getting to Negan till the final episode of the season.

with so many dragged out wasted episodes in-between.

It was a great episode, so very tense and dire.

But with the ending... Walking Dead has officially become a joke.

1980 called. Dallas wants their cliffhanger back.

1995 called. The Simpsons are ****ing laughing at you.

Such a terrible decision to end it like that. That scene doesn't need a cliffhanger to be talked about during the summer. It's just another stupid stunt from the writers. It's not like the victim's identity won't be revealed this summer long before the episode airs anyway. Listening to Gimple and a Kirkman try to justify the decision is infuriating.

Right? Kirkman was all "the comics always end on a cliffhanger"... that's monthly bro. And the issue you were attempting to adapt did not end on such a weak, amateurish note.

Obviously my viewership is a drop in the bucket, but I'm probably not going to watch season 7, just on principle.

That said, I'm convinced it was Abraham. For multiple reasons.

It's Glenn.

The audio leaked a few days ago, but they removed the screams of the group. You could hear Maggie and Abraham screaming, "GLENN!", and if you slow the audio down here, you can hear it, too.

But **** Gimple. I'm never watching another episode of this show live ever again.
