Q&A with Tristan Jones, re: the Mirage Universe Sourcebook

Tristan Jones on the cancelled Mirage Universe Sourcebook.

This is a Q&A I did with Tristan a few months back, regarding the content of the Mirage Unvierse Sourcebook that got cancelled due to the Viacom buy-out. Tristan has talked about it in many threads on this board, so much of this info you may already know, but I wanted to get it all collected in one place and "straight from the horse's mouth", as it were.

I was sitting on this Q&A for a month or two because I'd been having trouble getting correspondance from Tristan, as he's no doubt busy with IDW projects at the moment. I just needed his editing approval. After waiting this long, I decided to go ahead and post it, but hopefully there's nothing in there Tristan disapproves of (it's a verbatim copy/paste of our e-mail dialogue).

Sounds like we didn't miss much. It's likely for the best that this never came out.

I still wish this had been published; it would have been a neat thing to have on-hand.

I was hoping since IDW's republishing some Mirage stories and they've already got Trist on their bill, they'd try to get it released still, but I guess not :/

So i'm guessing that Mark Martin's work woulda been nixed for the book (understandably so, it don't quite fit in, as much as I love it) so why is there one of his covers on one've the monitors? A purple bandana'd one, no less

Articles like this have a pretty narrow audience, but I like filling obscure niches like that.

Besides, interviews make my site look extra legitimate! I've got two under my belt, now! Always gratifying to know the people in charge are willing to talk to me.

Great article as always Doc. I kinda wish the wiki-esque guidebook had happened after the book was canceled.
