The Last Ronin: Lost Years #5
Welp…that was a rather violent issue. And considering how violent the previous ones were, that’s saying a lot.
Spoiler:
Still no Oroku Saki

As an Italian I must say I have seen better depiction of Italy. It looked quite generic. And this Death Worm guy ended up not being a real threat: weird for a man who is able to spread his goons and business all across the world.
Arts and colors have been really good in all these five issues though, especially the scenes set in the past with Mikey. I really enjoyed it. |

Thought this issue was great! Way better than the last one. I just wish we could've seen more from the flashback with Mikey and Splinter in the first issue. Would've been cool to see them successfully off Oroku Saki.
Also, the art was awesome throughout the whole series! Would love to see SL Gallant and Maria Keane do more Turtles comics. |

Kind of unsatisfying. Mikey should kill that woman to avenge his friend. The final battle was just boring. It's basically a "Too much nonsense, get killed" plot.

The weirdest thing about this series was change of Mikeys headshape during his time in Mongolia (issue 3). I didn't see any explanation, and change in drawing style isn't really an explanation, since other turtles still retained their original head shape. It's not even that tall and flat in original Last Ronin, I wonder what was going on with that.

I noticed that too and I had to check previous issues to see if the head was always drawn like that. Not a big deal though, I really like this artist and I hope he is included in future projects.

This series sure did fizzle out. The first 4 issues did a great job of balancing the then and now, and while this issues now was only a page, the then was such a dud. Obviously, we know where he'll end up at the end, but Death Worm was so underwhelming. This super powerful and dangerous mystery villain who is so hard to find is occupying the little-known ROMAN COLISEUM? And the fight was just, too short? Didn't portray him as dangerous enough? Death Worm only cared about money, cool motive? I'm still super excited for The Last Ronin 2, but this issue just wasn't it.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I am just so frustrated that they never showed the final battle between the turtles and Oroku Saki. The latter is pretty crucial to the story considering he’s the turtles’ archenemy and the one who started the war between Clan Hamato and the Foot Clan, supposedly.

Or maybe they plan to bring him back from the dead like they did in the Mirage comics? Remember the worm creature? It would be like a TMNT version of “Batman Beyond: Return Of The Joker”

The whole Lost Years mini in general felt really unneeded. Wasn't bad or anything, but it's just piggybacking off the success of The Last Ronin. Like I finished the whole thing and I'm not sure what to take out of it.
