Did you avoid every single side-quest, never used the monster arena, never had to grind before one of the big bosses for a while, never spent time at the casino minigames and put down the controller after beating the main boss, thus completely avoiding the post-game? |

Probably San Andreas or Injustice 2.

And ever since I got a Switch, new games have made it into my top.
Currently, the game I've spent the most hours in my life, afaik, is Animal Crossing New Horizons. I've played for 530 hours according to the Switch. Super Mario Maker 2 os my 2nd most played Switch game, at about 225 hours. Closely followed by Smash Ultimate at about 200 hours. BOTW is at 140 hours currently. Still got some shrines and Ganon to beat yet. Sadly, the Switch doesn't show you the time you've played games you haven't played in a long time. But I'm pretty sure I've spent close to 200 hours in the FFX HD remake. |

I've never kept track, but in messing around with WWE 2K18 off and on the last few months, I noticed I spent quite a few days working in 6-, 8-, or 12-hour blocks creating wrestlers... and I haven't even filled all 100 slots yet, and that's not counting hours spent playing the game, just creating people, doing movesets and entrances, assigning them to tag teams and stables, etc.
I'm not gonna do anything like "precise" math in my head, but if I round it off and multiply it by the number of wrestling games released over the last 20+ years, I've easily spent literally thousands of hours on that. Not even playing the games, just using the Creation modes. Adding in the hours spent playing with said created content and it skyrockets even more. There's definitely nothing that comes close. I honestly never paid it that much attention before, especially since I'm kinda streaky and sometimes go a few weeks without playing a wrestling game and instead go through the rest of my backlog. But then not long ago I spent like 6 or 8 hours on two or three created guys (it really does take forever nowadays), and I started doing some estimates considering how much time I must've spent on other wrestling games, and it's like, "Yikes". It's amazing I have time to play anything else, but as mentioned I sometimes take a few weeks or a month off from a wrestling game before I go back to it; they just happen to be the most time-consuming. Probably a big reason why I haven't spent more time on actual "big" games like Elder Scrolls, Witcher, or anything like that though. I love those kinda games, but if I end up taking a break from them I'm realistically probably not gonna go back to it ever again because I'll be lost. Whereas with a wrestling game, I can very easily play nothing but that for a month in 6-hour chunks, then not touch it at all for a month or two, then go right back to it, repeat. The "time sink" sneaks up on you with those, whereas with "Oblivion" or something it's like you know when you're sitting down that this is gonna be a few hundred hours of your life invested into it. But yeah I don't even really wanna try and figure out how many hours I've spent on gaming. Added all up it's gotta be literally years by now.

Probably immeasurable hours by aggregate playing PSOne Civilization across 25+ years on and off.
Seriously, but aggregate I've probably devoted a year of life in terms of minutes to that game. Not something I'm proud of, but aggregate measurement works for everything, good and bad. |

I had 999:59 hours on Pokemon Sapphire in the early 2000's. Literally maxed out the clock.

Okami and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time were the main ones that I spent a lot of time on. DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi, Gauntlet Legends and Dark Legacy, and Rampage World Tour were a few others.
For my Gameboy days, it was Pokemon Blue & Yellow. For my Genesis, it was Jurassic Park, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

I've always been curious about the Monster Hunter series, but seeing that most big fans of the series seem to sink about 300 hours into each installment, I've been putting off buying those games for a long time now.
Anyway, you'd be surprised how fast you get to 50 hours of gameplay time in a game. Especially RPGs and series like Football Manager, Civilization, Europa Universalis and Animal Crossing. I've had Animal Crossing New Horizons for less than 2 years and yet have 500+ hours in it already. And it's not like I have been playing it everyday lately. And when I do I play for like 10 minutes. And having over 200 hours in Super Mario Maker 2 might look impressive on paper but there's pretty much a growing countless amount of new levels being uploaded onto it on a dialy basis. It's like a never ending 2D Mario game. |

Man, for ps1 it was Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi, MVC1, Marvel VS Street Fighter, and MK trilogy. MVC2, MK Armageddon, and very recently, Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for PS2. Found BT3 on Ebay a few years ago which got me into the anime. Injustice, UMVC3, and Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2 for PS3. The Last of Us II, Injustice 2, Street Fighter V, and Dragon Ball FighterZ for PS4. TLOU has text to speech and audio cues, so I just had to play that one. I believe it's the only single player that does.

Defiance 2013, a third person shooter game. Not the best game in terms of sever reliability but ey I spent countless hours playing it. Been shut down, will forever miss it.

I have spent at least 1000 hours playing Twisted Metal 2. I have been playing that game since 1997. I have all the other Twisted Metal games except for the 2012 one and TM 2 is the one that I play the most. I have beaten the game with every character on medium without any passwords or codes. I have been doing the same thing on hard mode, but I still have about 5 or 6 characters left.

The wife was playing the last one for weeks/months on end. I never really saw the draw. There doesn't appear to be much of an alluring story or anything... just never-ending quests to fight big dinosaur things that looks mostly frustrating and time-consuming.
