That shredder and splinter are hysterical. It’s really sad when the packaging is better than the figures. I’ll definitely buy this just to get the box and sell off the crappy figures

Don't buy this don't show playmates that this lazy repainting of figures is ok.

Haha, those are so horrendous that they are kind of attractive.
I wish we could have got a blue jumpsuit April though, since she is pictured driving the van (in a yellow shirt, no less).

I'm buying it as I want to show Playmates repaints/retools of the 88 line is what I want. Sick of straight out reissues and have disliked everything they have done in the last decade until this.

I have a custom Mirage Shredder that I bought off ebay years ago that looks better than that. Bought it to go with my Neca Turtles until they released theirs a few years later.
Playmates literally just painted his torso brown instead of giving him belt or wrapping some cloth around him? This is sad. The box art is cool but thats it. |

I like the set. Not that I that I hadn’t got them in variations in the past .. haha
So I now have this 6 pack adorning my office wall. It’s getting a lot of attention. |

That Splinter and Shredder are the kind of repaint I've wanted from Playmates for decades. Will probably buy two sets. My only gripe is the turtles should be the 88 figures repainted not the mirage figures we already own.

Good price for what you get... sadly it's just a series of repacks and recolors. Playmates seems to have given up completely on giving us any sort of new molds. Really makes you wonder if they are interested in staying in business at this point or what exactly their strategy is here?
I get tired of feeling down on Playmates all the time, it's just really sad how far they have fallen. NECA and Super7 are putting in A+ effort and Playmates does nothing but phone it in. The Super7 TMNT figures are homages to those old Playmates TMNT figures, kid-sized works of art for their time. Whatever it is that they once had, they now have lost. |

If I'm Playmates, instead of re-issuing figures that no one was interested in, why not re-visit some of the figures collectors/fans actually treasure? Such as the Movie Star Turtles or the Toon turtles? Or even some non-turtles characters like Muckman or Mondo Gecko that Super7 and NECA are cashing in on right now. I know they re-released a few back a few years ago at Toys R Us, but the ones they chose were odd choices at best. "Oh Look! Pro Pilot Don!" I know some of the molds were lost in a fire or something, but they can't all of been lost...

This guys is on to something. Re-issue classic and hard to find characters like Scratch or hotshot, on ALMOST classic looking cards. Like add the Nick logo or some crap to differentiate it, but call it a collector collection of the classic figs, with the old school cards, and then make them 25ea and limited runs....then BAM playmates actually doing something. Panda Khan! Mondo Gecko Punk Frogs... The entire 10 back set... The elephant guy, slash and metalheads, and samurai Leo, and the monster turtles, cmon Playmates! Play to your strengths! They just need to get the cards right, and I am pretty sure we would bite for at least 5000 units each. Maybe setup their own website hasbro pulse style and sell direct....CMON now...this isnt a new thing. Make them limited editions and we would swoon. Get Peter and Kevin to offer rare chase signature ones or some crap. Go McFarlane style for rares....variant the **** out of those old moulds.

That "just paint Shredder's waist brown but don't bother giving him a belt" gimmick is tragically hilarious.

Here's my take. Don't buy these. Even for the packaging. Resist the collector urge. These are bad products. Awful sculpts, awful paintjobs.
If this line sells poorly, it sends a message to Viacom that Playmates is no longer worthy of having a deathgrip on the license. Don't buy these. |

At first I thought “hey not bad for 40.00” And I don’t have any of the “mirage” figures from playmates.
But man, shredder having his eyes painted on his helmet again, yikes. Playmates will keep on being playmates I guess. |
