...what abotu that episode where Donatello turns int oa giant and fights a gorilla? How many buildings do they even destroy?! Donatello himself even said "they must have wasted the entire budget on this episode". The damage they made to NYC was equivalent to that of a massive earthquake. They must have killed a lot of people.

Remember the epsiode "Michelangelo's Birthday"?. In that, Shredder tricks the turtles into believing that he turned Michelangelo into a steaming hot pile of goo. Of course, we know that wasn't the case but if a kid turned on the tv after Mikey was shown escaping, they would've been devastated.
More violent than that was sitting through that entire episode. Holy hell was that episode bad.

Funny you say that, since that is one of my favourite episodes which I have revised countless times

It has lots of funny moments, and the cheap animation makes it even funnier.

The eps with that rubbery looking animation always amused me. I don't prefer the show looking like that, but that kind of animation style had a weird charm to it. It's hard to describe really.

Extraterrestrial plant killed by Leonardo in "It Came from Beneath the Sewers".

Extraterrestrial monster killed offscreen in "Splinter No More".

There's one ep in the European Vacation eps where the Rock Soldiers just smash to the ground and blow up as if they're robots like Foot Soldiers, rather than alien rock beings. I guess whoever wrote that episode didn't know the Rock Soldiers weren't robots.

I wonder if it was AKOM although they're only credited for two episodes I believe. What do you think guys?

MACC blasted rock soldiers into pieces with his laser-rays in "Attack of the Big MACC".

Was that "Ring of Fire" or "The Lost Queen of Atlantis"?

Yeah, the show was full of some rather would-have-been-gruesome deaths had the heroes not saved the day in the nick of time. One episode was threatening to basically boil April and Irma alive in a giant vat of melted wax, leaving them as creepy wax statues.

Then we have Krang threatening to throw Splinter off a building. He had no problem 'making the rat go splat'.

Shredder didn't give a damn about letting April fall to her death of a building under contruction. Baxter was willing to leave the Turtles to be crunched to bits within the giant gears inside a clock tower.

I mean as incompetent and goofy as OT Shredder was, he was willing to douse Mike with acid and just joke about it as he's be screaming violently as it would have reduced him to goo. That one was probably the sickest one of the entire series.

I don't remember that one being particularly violent.

... Yeah, seriously doubt there was a lot of this in the show...

If violence is defined as behaviour intended to hurt, shouldn't every one of Shredder and Krang's schemes be considered violent? They usually never go through with it, but the intention to kill the turtles and take over the world is always there.

Funny thing is, in a lot of those scenes, we never see anyone running away. So either they were crushed before they could, or New York is full of empty cars. Having seen the city, I doubt the latter is true.....

Logically, people will die when the buildings and cars of New York are crushed flat but it just couldn't be shown in the 80s series. Same with Beserko, we are told Krang committed genocide on his entire race but that can't be shown, not even through flashbacks.

In the Nick series however, when 80s Krang appears for the second time in his enlarged body, he is shown firing at civilians without mercy, and is shown to enjoy it. He even shoots April unconscious.

I never quite got why the villains in the 80s series were portrayed as not wanting to destroy the multiverse in Turtles Forever when thats precisely what they did in their own show.

In the Season 7 finale Rocksteady/Bebop almost shoot the Channel 6 news crew off the building. They destroy the glass window behind them and were shooting the flaw to make them back up and fall off the 10 story building.

No one mentioned Baxter Stockman?

Dude was legit sent to get killed off by Krang and we get to see it happen, sure he somehow merged with a fly instead but that's not what they were planning to have happen with that.
