they can be.

but, like anything new, you have to figure out what works and what doesn't.

thankfully, I'm pleased enough with the quality that I've already deleted shapeways off my bookmark list. I keep looking at this 3D technodrome cut in half and wonder at what else I can create with it when it prints right.

maybe a Portal diorama?

Are these printers limited by the types of shapes it can print? I imagine display stands would be cool.

try 4 turned out like it might complete 100% by 6AM tommorow.

it didn't print the front wheels so good this time around. and removing the support material might damage other areas..but at least it looks like most of it'll print ok. just a matter of working out details to improve things whenever i feel like trying again.

I can't print a goddamn spreadsheet without a paper jam. You've exposed yourself as a Warlock. Death by fire, or build a bridge outta ya? Pick one and no-backsies.

Everyone has that problem, though. Seriously, **** printers. Even James Rolfe made a You Know What's Bullsh*t video about printers. Printers are indeed Bull****

I'm not a fan of anything that I can't get to do as I say simply by yelling at it or calling its mother a whore. But that's me.

No, printers are EVIL. Or at the very least, have wicked and hateful little mechanical souls.

I like and appreciate mine the vast majority of time that it behaves itself, but those moments when it randomly just says "**** this" and grabs a handful of paper and jams itself, sometimes more than once in a row... or god forbid it run out of ink and become angry about it. It almost never takes that well.

It once ran out of a color, I gave it new ink, and it decided it was very angry at this and refused to print for TWO DAYS no matter what I tried to do. It wouldn't even try to. Third day... nope, it was miraculously over it without my help and printed with no issue.

I hope 3D printers are a different story, but from what we've seen... Lets just not ever integrate them with AI else they'll likely turn on us!

The upside being, Vegita, that in at least ONE case, the "newt" got better.

Indigo: I'd be interested in reading a childrens book about your myriad printer-related experiences. Please begin immediately, as I am not a patient man.

Hmm, I might write said book as a ghost-writer. For a modest fee, of course.

Look, I'm mostly okay with that, but I feel it's only fair to tell you upfront, as a friend, that if two hens are gonna collaborate on any project I've suggested, at some point they have to kiss. It's in the standard contract. Everybody signs it. (They don't READ it, necessarily, but...)

If you're OKAY with that, then by all means, collaborate. But the kiss photo has to go where the Author Photo generally goes on the inside of the dust jacket. Center front cover on the paperback edition.

Because how else am I going to ever sell a kids' book about "haunted" printers, dammit?!

You can let me know, and we can work from there. I don't even care if you keep ALL the profits, so long as I get to keep the master copy of the photo for blackm-... COPYRIGHT, purposes.

This is a terrible deal so I strongly suggest we get started right away.

Yeah...no, I'm out.

If only you knew the attempted comebacks to throw it in reverse that I was trying to post but kept deleting each. Considered yourself spared...

But yours are the BEST because you're so soft-spoken otherwise. That's why I gave you the spotlight! Now I feel cheated, because I know it would have been glorious to read. And you took it away!

Besides, Captain Quackers over there already agreed for both of you. You implicitly gave power of attorney when you invited her onboard as an editor. That included "editing" your signature into the paperwork.

...She seems really interested in this idea. But to be fair, I'm not sure she's 100% sober. Also, Texas, so... y'know. ((Whistles while doing the "cuckoo-finger thing")) But don't tell her I said that.

Too late, Leo! And I DID NOT sign anything! Fake News!!

I mean, are we talking full on lips? Cause then, no, I'm out too. Might go playful cheek pecks, or pretend kiss, but... Nah, I don't really swing that way. Flirt, maybe, but not seriously.

Indigo, yes, I'm fully sober. Unfortunately. Hubby took a nap, and it's dead quiet in here. Literally the only sound right now is my keyboard tap noise on my phone. No tv on (for once), no music playing, nothing....

I *think* our audience would settle for that thing actresses do on the red carpet: Cheek-to-cheek, full pout, lips *almost* touching while both facing the camera but no spittle or actual contact.

Keep in mind, the audience I have in mind for this book series about a haunted printer is one that thinks "Goosebumps" skews far too intellectual.

BUT, if it takes off, I have another idea we can spin off into a Young Adult series about a possessed USB stick that's also a serial rapist. It doesn't violate PEOPLE, but rather, plugs into your hard drive, deletes all your personal photos, and replaces them with pictures of Ben Stein wearing one of those T-shirts that says "Frankie Say RELAX", all without your consent.

See? I got lots of good ideas. I already paid the guy at the printing place, so f*ck it, we're rollin' with this!
-----------------------

Define "Sober". I'll tell you for free that I haven't had a chance to stop at the liquor store. Otherwise, I plead the Eighth. I mean FIFTH, Fifth. I plead "The Fifth".

You have to identify yourself if you're one of the Federales. Just FYI.

You plead a fifth? Sorry pal, don't have one handy. Because if I DID, I'd not be sober now. Y'see, I NEVER refuse a fifth....
