Good stories can be told in less than that.

Time =/= Quality

I know the trend of Longer is better thanks to Hollywood movies making long ass movies with a bunch of stuff that cane easily be cut but whatever. There's no reason why most superhero movies are that long nowadays.

While it may seem a bit pace breaking, some shows have handled it pretty well.

Adventure Time and Regular Show for instance. Both have character development, and sometimes have serious plots. Sometimes, it takes two of these mini episodes to tell a story, so it's no biggie.

I'm not at all worried about it. It's just, not what I'm used to in a show like Turtles. But I'm no stranger to the format.

... Like I said, you can just make multiparters if you really need more than 11 minutes. Plenty of the 11-minutes cartoons already do that, even when they're not directly advertised as such, they still connect on some level. Just have the episodes connect loosely and it won't be a problem.

Just watch a couple of Steven Universe, Adventure Time, OK K.O.! or Justice League Action episodes and you'll see that the pacing is just fine.

And if we're meant to think of this as an episodic comedy, it's going to be even less of a problem. While the practice of airing 11 minute episodes is fairly new, 11 minute segments have been common for decades and I've never heard any complaints about it.

Alright this gives more hope.
As soon I heard about the runtime I immediately thought of TTG for some reason. I watched Adventure Time and Steven Universe before but I always thought that the episodes were too short. I guess I just prefer longer content.

OK.
I've never seen any series with 11 minutes long episodes. On the other hand, I hadn't watched cartoons in the last decade.

Well, guess since this will be a kiddy comedy, 11-minutes might be good for this. In the end, I hadn't much enthusiasm for this show anyway.

Then why dividing them into 11 minute episodes, if they show two episodes back to back?

That's fine.

Because this way you can start off airing two new episodes back to back, then after a couple of weeks switch to airing reruns after new episodes. It's a compromise that cuts down on the hiatus, you won't have to fill as many gaps with only reruns.

I haven't watched any of those recent cartoons either, but it does seem like the 11 minute format works well.

The only newer cartoons I've watched in the last few years was Nick's TMNT, Young Justice, and Star Wars Clone Wars and Rebels...all which had the 22 minute format.

As SDP pointed out earlier, depends on the type/style of the show.

Are the turtles wearing black, tight shorts?!

Spoiler:

Also, I wonder if Leonardo will have a Sonic-esque personality.

No, the black things are shadows. You can see Leonardo and Raphael have it in their armpits too.

I have no idea what a "Sonic-esque personality" is, but please no.

I've been in-between on whether or not those are shorts or just overdone shadows. I'm leaning toward shadows, though I'd be happy to consider them all wearing little black boxer briefs for some reason, even if it isn't. lol If it's going to be a weird one, then just go all the way with it.

But the "shadows" go over their upper thighs. In addition, there seems to be a cutoff point that differentiates the shorts and shadows. They are shaded differently in terms of color and shape.

If you look at Don's left arm, it's all shadowed black too. It's just a style choice in this artwork. Probably when we see the Turtles in motion in an actual episode the shadows will blend in better.

The shadow not only appears at a slanted angle, but it's also under his arm.

They're wearing shorts.

Even the shadows are magic and work differently in that world...?

I think Mikey there is probably the best case for shorts though. If it's just shadow it extends out way too far. edit: AND his right leg shows a bit of lighter shadow under the edge of said "shorts." Okay, I might believe it now.

They're Shadows. There are no shorts on the toys or in other promotional art.

When you examine the action figurines, that is true. However, do the toys ever have a completely accurate representation of the show they're based off of?

Then there's this collection of other promotional artwork:

Spoiler:

They look like shorts to me.

Edit: I've also noticed that their heads are shaped like common, two-dimensional figures.

Hmmm ...

Probably a dumb question obvious to most but what are the red parts on Raphs upper portion of legs? I see it on toys and promotional art.
